Next year’s chosen charities are; Hunter’s Hope Mission which was set up to broaden public awareness of Krabbe Disease and other Leukodystrophies, thus increasing the probability of early detection and treatment.
It gathers and provides current, functional information and service linkages to families of children with Leukodystrophies, it funds research efforts that will identify new treatments, therapies and ultimately, hopefully, a cure for Krabbe Disease and other Leukodystrophies.
The Rainbow Club Cork Center for Autism, was opened in 2015 with an aim to help and support families living with autism, to help them experience the joy of childhood and reach their full potential in life.
The innovative and unique design of the center is a holistic community where every aspect of the challenges of ASD is supported. Here, provision is made for a coordinated pathway of care and a thriving hub of support for every child and their family from the time they begin at the center in early childhood until they reach young adulthood.
The Emily Ash Trust was started in 2002 when Emily was diagnosed with Leukemia. Initially set up to raise awareness of the need for bone marrow donors, the trust has now evolved and today the primary aim is to support families who have a child, teenager or young adult with cancer.
Some well known figures already associated with the event are entertainer and One Direction singer Niall Horan, former NFL Jim Kelly, former Irish soccer internationals Niall Quinn and Liam Brady, and former Premier League and international goal keeper Peter Schmeikel. Others include Chris McDonald, Robbie Earle, Conor Moore, Pat Monaghan and Dave Bryson, with many more to be added in the coming weeks.
