I hope you are ready for October Fest as this looks like a great month to celebrate. The reason I am letting you know all this as our advertisers Guinness and Budweiser, who support the paper and web site are doing lots of promotions all over the city and beyond, so give them your support as well.
I myself will be Out&About and I will be visiting a few establishments so I hope you will see me in one of them.
Here is piece that is close to my heart because it concerns a good friend of mine for many years and he needs a little bit of help if you can. The friends and family of Eugene Flanagan invite you a benefit that they are organizing in his honor. For many years while living in New York, Eugene was an active member of the Irish Business Organization, the Irish Arts Center, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. After getting married, Eugene and his wife Kim relocated to Boston where they are raising their son Owen.

In recognition of Eugene’s accomplishments and dedication to the Irish community over the years, the IBO has announced that it will present Eugene with the 2019 Celtic Spirit Award on Thursday, October 3 at The Manhattan Club at Rosie O’Grady’s (201 West 52nd Street on the corner of Seventh Avenue).
Please join them in recognizing Eugene for his contributions and help support him and his family in their time of need.
If you are unable to attend, but would like to donate you can do so via GoFundMe at https://bit.ly/2mGqhss.
Here is another event that should be supported so please join HOPe President, Attracta Lyndon and the Board of Directors on October 15 at the Manhattan Club. Their special guest speaker that day will be Loretta Brennan Glucksman. Funds raised will support HOPe’s projects in Dominican Republic, Peru, Africa, Costa Rica and Honduras. Dinner and dessert will be provided as well as a cash bar. Donations are at your discretion, from $50 to $250 plus… please be generous.

Featuring some great musicians with Duffy’s Cut direct from Cork, Mick Maloney and friends, Donie Carroll and friends, James Keane and lots more. Donations of $20 are suggested.
The great Dermot Kelly is now the new President of The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick and made his first official appointment with President of Ireland, Michael Higgins. Now there isn’t he looking very nice and there will be no stopping him now, congratulations Dermot
See you all again next week when I am Out&About again and come on Ireland in the Rugby World Cup!
