I thought I had my money on the winner of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday only to find out he was disqualified for bumping and after watching a replay I couldn’t see it. The winner was the winner and that is the way it should have been left.
They came, they saw, they conquered, yes, Mayo got their 2019 Championship campaign off to an ideal start with a 21-point drubbing of New York in the Connacht SFC quarter-final at Gaelic Park, New York. An unseasonable deluge descended upon Gaelic Park, making for a slick playing surface and contributing to an inordinate number of handling errors. All the excuses in the world would not change the result but I will tell you that the New York GAA should be very proud because the turnout was only fabulous. Even with the weather the fans came from all over; congratulations to all the volunteers and helpers who made the day a great success, Up Mayo.

Can you believe it? The Irish Repertory Theatre has been with us for 30 years now! Wow, now that is something to talk about for a first class Irish theatre. I personally am so happy to have played my part in promoting this wonderful theatre company over many years and for their trust in what we are doing to promote them. You all know that the backbone, and I do mean the backbone of this company are Charlotte Moore and Ciaran O’Reilly. This is why they are delighted to announce that performance tickets are available now for their upcoming Gala performance celebrating 30 years of Irish Rep! The gala will be held on Monday, June 17 at 7 pm at Alice Tully Hall in the Lincoln Center (1941 Broadway). They hope you can join them for this extraordinary one-night-only event featuring a special appearance by Judy Collins and guest performers from both Broadway and past Irish Rep productions, accompanied by a full orchestra.
The evening will honor President Bill Clinton, who will receive Irish Repertory Theatre’s Visionary Leadership Award in recognition of his visionary role in the historic Good Friday Agreement. The award will be presented onstage by Alec Baldwin.
All proceeds will benefit Irish Repertory Theatre and their efforts to stage the best of Irish theatre, from works by master dramatists to the next generation of Irish and Irish-American playwrights. They are grateful for your continued support as they round out their 30th season and look ahead to the years to come!
Performance-only tickets start at $100 and are on sale now via irishrep.org or the Irish Rep box office at (212) 727-2737.
