Out & About

Wow! What a game! The Super Bowl that was played last Sunday in Minneapolis featured two veteran contenders, the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, who had never won a Super Bowl until this Sunday.
The underdogs won and that was the Eagles and let me tell you that it was a brilliant game as any team could have won and it went down to the last minute of the game. Congratulations Philadelphia, that was a well deserved victory.
Never fear though, Tom Brady will be back again as he is not finished. Even though he is 40 years of age, boy, can he still throw that ball.
It’s all happening at The Irish Repertory Theatre who have had hit after hit. I’m sure their latest show will be one of their biggest hits ever. The Seafarer, written by Conor McPherson and directed by Ciaran O’Reilly, features a star studded cast that includes Matthew Broderick, Colin McPhillamy, Michael Mellamphy, Andy Murray and Tim Ruddy.
The show will run from March 30th to May 13th and let me tell you, you should get your tickets early! That is my advise as this again is going to be big.
Here is the story: After losing yet another job, Sharky has returned home to Dublin to build a new, sober existence with his cantankerous elder brother, Richard, recently blinded in a drunken accident. But it’s Christmas Eve, and the drinks are flowing as old friends convene for an annual game of poker. This year, an immortal stranger from Sharky’s past arrives, raising the stakes to eternal consequence.
Written by Irish Playwright Conor McPherson (The Weir, Shining City), The Seafarer premiered at London’s Royal National Theatre in 2006 and was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Play.
It premiered on Broadway in December of 2007, where it was nominated for four 2008 Tony Awards, including Best Play.
