Langan’s is a New York City icon that has now been reborn and is waiting to welcome you all to their new home at at 114 West 47th Street, a few doors down from their original location. First established in 1992 by John Mahon and Desmond O’Brien, Langan’s revolutionized the New York City dining scene by introducing an elevated Irish fine-dining experience.
As a white-tablecloth restaurant with a welcoming ambiance, Langan’s quickly became the go-to destination for after-work drinks, theater-goers, and the millions of tourists visiting NYC each year.
Beyond its culinary excellence, Langan’s gained a reputation as a hotspot for the famous and influential, hosting luminaries such as Meryl Streep, sports legend Muhammad Ali, renowned journalist Steve Dunleavy, and TV personality Sean Hannity, among others.
The original Langan’s shut down in early 2018, after it lost its lease, ending a 25-year run. Now nearly seven years later, now on the same block and after a $1 million renovation, it has just re-opened a few doors down from the original.

The Langan’s Irish/American Pub and Restaurant partners are the original owners, Des O’Brien, Robert Mahon and Pat Burke, all well known in the hospitality restaurant and bar business.
I was there on a few occasions with some friends for cocktails and I must tell yea its amazing to just walk in and the welcome you will get is nothing less than a céad míle fáilte.
When I am Out&About this is one of the places that I will definitely frequent, I am sure quite a lot as it has got what it takes to attract you to stop in for a drink and very nice menu when entertaining friends or work colleges for lunch, dinner or if you just want to meet up for a bit of gossip. Ah, I love it, we might all just meet up there.
This notice came to with some sad news. “Dear Members, I reach out with some very sad news from Johnny Harvey who has let me know that his Dad passed away yesterday morning. PJ has been cared for by his family for the past few weeks in home hospice. He was a lifelong friend of the O’Neill Family, through good times and bad, as I know he was for many. It is difficult even stating this that in the past tense.
“He was a great Clare man who did a lot of good for so many and was a fierce supporter of the Clare Association. The Harvey Family will have to navigate Holy Week restrictions as they plan a wake and funeral. I will be in touch as soon as I hear from them regarding definitive date.
“Please keep PJ and the Harvey Family in your prayers, to quote a lyric from one of PJ’s many favorite tunes, ‘Will the Circle be Unbroken by and by Lord, by and by. There’s a better home awaiting in the sky Lord, in the sky.’ RIP PJ Harvey from all your friends and family.”
I’ll see you all again next week when I’m Out&About again…
