PL Roundup: Foxes hold Chelsea to a scoreless draw

 

Chelsea were unable to overcome a resolute 10-man Leicester City as they recorded their third consecutive 0-0 draw in all competitions. 

Leicester had the better of the first half with 12 shots, even if Kasper Schmeichel saved well from Eden Hazard.

The visitors’ dominance ended with a red card for Ben Chilwell on 68 minutes when he was shown a second yellow card after fouling Victor Moses.

Despite the man advantage, Chelsea, for whom Hazard was taken off early, struggled to create a clear-cut chance.

Marcos Alonso’s stoppage-time free-kick, whichwas palmed away by Schmeichel, was the closest they came.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min entered Tottenham Hotspur’s record books with a 4-0 win over Everton at Wembley Stadium.

Spurs took control on 26 minutes as Serge Aurier teed up Son, whose goal made him only the second Spurs player to score in five consecutive home Premier League matches after Jermain Defoe in 2004.

Kane doubled the lead two minutes after the interval after wonderful approach play by Son.

The striker converted Eric Dier’s low cross on 59 minutes to surpass Teddy Sheringham to become Spurs’ leading PL scorer with 98 goals.

Christian Eriksen finished off a sweeping move on 81 minutes to round off a comfortable win.

Bakary Sako scored the only goal as Crystal Palace continued their resurgence with a 1-0 win over Burnley.

Sako netted after 21 minutes when he cut in from the left and past Phil Bardsley, before firing beyond Nick Pope.

Wilfried Zaha could have made it 2-0, but Ben Mee did well to hack off the line the winger’s chip.

Burnley piled on the pressure in the second half, but Palace’s Christian Benteke wasted the best chance, firing into the side-netting.

Manuel Lanzini scored twice for West Ham United in a 4-1 win at Huddersfield Town.

Mark Noble put them ahead on 25 minutes after Joe Lolley was caught in possession.

Five minutes before the break, Lolley made amends, curling a superb effort beyond Adrian for his first Premier League goal.

Less than 30 seconds after the restart, Arnautovic restored West Ham’s lead before turning provider for Lanzini to make it 3-1.

The same pair combined again on 61 minutes as Lanzini grabbed his second, smashing high into the net.
