As I look forward to this year’s New York Comic Con, I can’t help but mention that I finally dug out my Silver Age comics. Little did I know that what once cost 10 cents or a quarter now can fetch me more than six figures. So when I attend this year’s con I will view through a very different lens.

As New York’s biggest event for comics, cartoons, sci-fi, movies, the New York Comic Con descends upon the Javits Center offering others a chance to build collections that will someday equal what I have.

From October 6th to the 9th , 2022, NYCC will host a multitude of screenings, special panels, and a mammoth artist’s alley. Comic guests include Adam Kubert, Arthur Adams, Chrissie Zullo, Janet Sung, Joshua Swaby, Peach Momoko, and many, many more.

Special film and entertainment guests include parody virtuoso Weird Al Yankovic, Brendan Fraser, Cassandra Peterson, and author Diana Gabaldon.

The eagerly awaited Super Mario Bros. film trailer will be exhibited to fans eager to see Brooklyn’s native son and video game superstar hit the big screen (for the first time since the 90s).

Experts from on the Japanese comics industry will weigh in on the Best & Worst Manga of 2022 panel.

HBO Max’s Velma series, taking an adult spin on the classic character, will be screened with a guest appearance by Mindy Kaling.

For animation fans, the Adult Swim movie Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm will be premiered, and the US premiere of the hotly anticipated dub of Chainsaw Man. Even TV’s Svengoolie is taking part in NYCC with a special panel moderated by comic book publisher Dan DiDio.

So get your most comfortable shoes (or your best costume), and get ready for a comics and media onslaught.
