New York Comic Con Celebrates Heroes, Manga, Movies and All Things Pop Culture at the Javits Center

There are comic cons and then there are comic cons. The New York Comic Con is a huge affair with thousands of attendees and media stars. And though bigger isn’t necessarily better, NYCC 2024 offers more than ever for fans, cosplayers and professionals alike.

Reedpop’s New York Comic Con returns once again — much like Jean Grey — unleashing a superhero/sci-fi/fantasy fest of titanic proportions on Manhattan’s Javits Center. The massive event runs from October 17 to the 20th, with a special preview day on October 16 for industry professionals.

For the general public, it all kicks off on Thursday bringing together for one weekend fans of all kinds of pop culture genres.

Special events such as “Coffee, Croissants, and Catching Feelings: An NYCC Brunch;” a ticketed event with bestselling authors Carissa Broadbent (“Six Scorched Roses”), Danielle L. Jensen (“Bridge Kingdom”), Elise Kova (“Arcana Academy”), and Brigid Kemmerer (“Forging Silver into Stars”) or “Seeking Salvation: A Hazbin Hotel Panel” which showcases the hit new animated web series are only two of the many specialized experiences to suit the many tastes in play.

The convention’s Artist Alley, one of the highlights of NYCC, has over 500 tables with both the legends and the newest artists side by side. Among the notables attending Bob Camp, Jim Lee, Jeff Lemire, Humberto Ramos, Kieron Gillen, Sara Pichelli, Katie Cook; they’re joined by creators all crowded in one huge hall row after row, Artist Alley provides one concentrated sense of all talents here in the same place.

The show also features a plethora of special guests from TV and movies, including Elizabeth Olsen, Ella Purnell, John Boyega, Walton Goggins, Alison Sealy-Smith, Adam Nimoy, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Josh Brolin, Hayley Atwell, and many more. They are available for fan interaction various ways from signing, to keynote talks to special panels highlighting their latest productions.

Extensive panels and presentation explore everything from Yu-Gi-Oh deck building and cosplay showcases, to panels for librarians and sneak peaks at new TV shows and movies.

In addition, celebrate 10 years of the podcast Happy Sad Confused in person as Josh Horowitz chats with an all-star cast of fan favorite guests, including “Outlander” star Sam Heughan and “Stranger Things” star David Harbour.

So, for one intense NYC weekend fans of various media productions such as “Andor,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Lord of the Rings,” “Planet of the Apes,” “The Batman,” “Black Panther,” “Dune 2,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Deadpool 2,” “No Country for Old Men,” “The Goonies” among the many others get to mingle with each other and many of the stars that drew them there in the first place.
