There was not much sun and lots of raindrops but now, that did not stop me from having a good time because I did. <\/p>\n<p>I got to see my family and friends on my visit and I\u2019ll tell you what, if you go to Cork City, I recommend you stay at the <strong>Metropole Hotel<\/strong> that is right in the city and yes, near all the shopping that you need. <\/p>\n<p>Now, as far as bars and restaurants are concerned, they are all at your fingertips and all within walking distance. Ah, I love it. At one of the establishments called <strong>Canty\u2019s <\/strong>on Winthrop Street I went to see the famous <strong>Joe Mac<\/strong> from the <strong>Dixies <\/strong>era where he was providing the entertainment to a packed house and again, he\u2019s never lost it. <\/p>\n<p>To tell you the truth I had a ball and went to see <strong>Tipperary beat Kilkenny<\/strong> again in another fine establishment in the Douglas area called <strong>John O\u2019<\/strong> and I am glad to say I had another great time with my family. <\/p>\n<p>Now I think that is enough about me.<\/p>\n<p>I have a little bit of sad news that was sent in to me about one beautiful lady, <strong>Clare Enright<\/strong>. It said, \u201cTo All Members of the Dublin Society of New York. It is with a sad heart that I reach out to let you know of the passing of Clare Enright. Clare was one of the longest serving members of the Dublin Society, and a great character at our social\u00a0 gatherings.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The wake is at <strong>Dalton Funeral Home<\/strong> (47 Jerusalem\u00a0 Avenue, Hicksville) on\u00a0Thursday, August 22, from 2 to 4 pm\u00a0and from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral Mass will be held at <strong>Our Lady of Mercy Church<\/strong> (500 Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville) on Friday at 10 am with the burial at <strong>Calverton National Cemetery<\/strong>\u00a0in Calverton at 12pm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shane Humphries, President\u00a0of the Dublin Society of NY<\/strong>, concluded saying \u201cAr dheis De go raibh a anam.\u201d (May her soul be on Gods right hand)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Irish Repertory Theatre<\/strong> have been busy with lots of fabulous shows again and here is another one, the <strong>Dublin Carol<\/strong> on the <strong>Francis J.Greenburg Mainstage<\/strong> by none other than\u00a0<strong>Conor McPherson<\/strong>, directed by\u00a0<strong>Ciar\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly<\/strong> and staring\u00a0<strong>Jeffrey Bean<\/strong>, <strong>Cillian Hegarty<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Street<\/strong>. The show will run from September 20 to November 10.<\/p>\n<p>John Plunkett is haunted by memories of a shameful past and shattered life. On Christmas Eve, an unexpected visit from his estranged daughter, Mary, forces John to confront his demons and grapple with his chance at redemption.<\/p>\n<p>Irish Rep proudly begins its 2019-2020 season with\u00a0Dublin Carol,\u00a0Conor McPherson\u2019s revelatory journey towards salvation, which premiered in 2000 at the Royal Court in London and made its US premiere at The Atlantic Theater in 2003.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dublin Carol\u00a0is Irish Rep\u2019s sixth McPherson play; past productions include\u00a0<strong>St. Nicholas<\/strong>\u00a0(2010),\u00a0<strong>The Weir<\/strong> (2013 and 2015), <strong>Port Authority<\/strong>\u00a0(2014), <strong>Shining City<\/strong>\u00a0(2016), and\u00a0<strong>The Seafarer<\/strong>\u00a0(2018). <\/p>\n<p>How do they do it? I don\u2019t know. but they do. Now that is something. Tickets can be obtained from their Box Office at 132 West 22nd Street, by phone on (212) 727-2737 or at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishrep.org\">www.irishrep.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In more sad news, <strong>Maurice \u2018Mossie\u2019 Keane<\/strong>, father of former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland footballer <strong>Roy Keane<\/strong> has died after a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>He suffered a stroke late last year and passed away in the Heather Care Home at Cork Orthopaedic Hospital last Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Roy Keane grew up in Ballinderry Park in Mayfield on the northside of the city as the second youngest child in his family. Mossie and his wife Marie have five children, Roy, Denis, Johnson, Pat, and daughter Hilary.<\/p>\n<p>Just a reminder that it\u2019s coming! Yes it\u2019s coming time for the <strong>Tug Boat Roundup in Waterford<\/strong> in the southern-most municipality in Saratoga County. Bordering Rensselaer County across the Hudson River and Albany County across the Mohawk River, Waterford is the gateway to Erie and Champlain Canals.<\/p>\n<p>The village of Waterford is a village within the Town of Waterford. The village was founded in 1794 and is the oldest continually incorporated village in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The town was founded in 1816 when Halfmoon was split into the town of Halfmoon and the town of Waterford, taking on the name of the village.<\/p>\n<p>The Tugboat Roundup is a town event which this year runs from\u2008September 6 to 8. Waterford is home to the Waterford Flight. What happens in Ireland stays in Ireland, did I say that right?
