Mr Johnson said he was \u201cconvinced\u201d a Brexit deal could be reached without checks at the Irish border and without the \u201canti-democratic backstop\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is of course vital at the same time that we prepare for the remote possibility that Brussels refuses any further to negotiate and we are forced to come out with no-deal.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot because we want that outcome, of course not, but because it is only common sense to prepare.\u201d<\/p>\n
Looking at domestic policy, he said he would begin to recruit 20,000 additional police officers \u201cto make your streets safer\u201d.<\/p>\n
Work would also start on 20 new hospital upgrades, ensuring additional funding for the NHS reached the front line.<\/p>\n
Mr Johnson also vowed to fix the \u201ccrisis\u201d in social care \u201conce and for all\u201d with a clear plan to give every older person the dignity and security they deserve.<\/p>\n
He said the Government would also \u201clevel up\u201d funding for primary and secondary schools to ensure all pupils received a \u201csuperb education wherever they are.”<\/p>\n
