The 23-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal, the Premier League club announced.<\/p>\n
Rodri officially became a City player on Thursday, the day after the La Liga outfit revealed the 70million euros \u2013 around \u00a362.8million \u2013 release clause in his contract, which had four years to run, had been triggered.<\/p>\n
A statement on the reigning champions\u2019 official website said: \u201cManchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Spanish midfielder Rodri.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 23-year-old joins on a five-year deal from Atl\u00e9tico Madrid and follows Angelino to become Pep Guardiola\u2019s second signing of the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n
City have not confirmed the fee, but the value of the release clause eclipses the \u00a360million City paid Leicester for Algeria international Riyad Mahrez last summer.<\/p>\n
Rodri said: \u201cWhat City have achieved in the last two years has been amazing and I\u2019m looking forward to being part of such a talented squad.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not just the titles they have won, but the way they have managed it, playing attacking football at all times. It\u2019s a style that excites me, as do the club\u2019s ambitions.<\/p>\n

The 6\u20193\u2033 holding midfielder began his career as a youth player at Atl\u00e9tico before moving to Villarreal in December 2015. He returned to Madrid in June last year for a reported fee of \u00a320million.<\/p>\n
He made 47 appearances for the club last season as they finished runners-up to champions Barcelona and eight points clear of city rivals Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
City\u2019s director of football Txiki Begiristain said: \u201cRodri has proven himself to be a hugely talented, young midfielder who has all the attributes we are looking for.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe works hard defensively, makes himself available to receive the ball and uses it well when in possession.<\/p>\n
