{"id":7809,"date":"2019-06-06T12:57:36","date_gmt":"2019-06-06T16:57:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=7809"},"modified":"2019-06-08T08:58:49","modified_gmt":"2019-06-08T12:58:49","slug":"manchester-city-appeal-to-cas-over-uefas-financial-fair-play-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=7809","title":{"rendered":"Manchester City Appeal to CAS Over UEFA&#8217;s Financial Fair Play Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/2.43027655.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/2.43027655.jpg 600w, https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/2.43027655-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Manchester City have asked the Court of Arbitration for Sport to throw out the financial fair play case that has been brought against them by European football\u2019s governing body UEFA.<\/p>\n<p>The surprise move represents a preemptive strike as the FFP case has not yet even been heard by the relevant body at UEFA, the adjudicatory chamber of its Club Financial Control Board.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the head of the CFCB\u2019s investigatory arm Yves Leterme decided the Premier League champions do have a case to answer and it is understood that he has recommended they be banned from European club competition for at least a season.<\/p>\n<p>The Court of Arbitration for Sport has registered an appeal filed by Manchester City Football Club against the Union of European Football Associations.<\/p>\n<p>There was never any doubt that City would have appealed against any such sanction at CAS but the club have now decided they are not going to wait for that.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, sport\u2019s highest court said: \u201cThe Court of Arbitration for Sport has registered an appeal filed by Manchester City Football Club against the Union of European Football Associations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe appeal is filed against decisions taken by the Investigatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body regarding MCFC\u2019s alleged non-compliance with UEFA\u2019s Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn arbitration procedure will now be initiated and will involve an exchange of written submissions between the parties while a panel of CAS arbitrators is convened to hear the appeal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the panel has been formally constituted, it will issue a procedural calendar.
