{"id":7265,"date":"2019-05-07T07:34:28","date_gmt":"2019-05-07T11:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=7265"},"modified":"2019-05-07T08:37:26","modified_gmt":"2019-05-07T12:37:26","slug":"shane-long-makes-ireland-squad-after-fine-run-of-form","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=7265","title":{"rendered":"Shane Long Makes Ireland Squad After Fine Run of Form"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2.39159919.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2.39159919.jpg 600w, https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2.39159919-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Shane Long is back in contention for the Republic of Ireland\u2019s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Denmark and Gibraltar after ending the Premier League season with Southampton in fine form.<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old striker has been included in Mick McCarthy\u2019s provisional 30-man party for a training camp in Portugal later this month ahead of the games in June, having missed the qualifier victories over Gibraltar and Georgia in March through injury.<\/p>\n<p>Long has scored four of his five league goals for the campaign in the last six games to help ease the Saints to top-flight safety and mark his return to form.<\/p>\n<p>He is joined in the squad by Preston forward Callum Robinson, who also missed the opening games of the campaign through injury, and Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan, who did not make the final cut last time around during his loan spell at Sheffield United.<\/p>\n<p>There are places too for Robinson\u2019s club-mate Alan Browne and Manchester United goalkeeper Kieran O\u2019Hara, who helped Macclesfield retain their Football League status during his loan spell.
