The slogans appeared this morning in the Creggan area, meters from where journalist Lyra McKee was killed on April 18.<\/p>\n
She was shot by a dissident republican linked to the New IRA who fired indiscriminately at police lines during disturbances over the Easter weekend.<\/p>\n
Painted on a wall, one message reads \u201cInformers will be executed\u201d, and another says \u201cIRA here to stay\u201d.<\/p>\n
Another message includes a picture of a rat, with the message \u201cInformers will be shot. IRA\u201d, and another says \u201cRUC Informers: They will forget about you, we won\u2019t. IRA\u201d.<\/p>\n
Pro-IRA graffiti which had been painted over in the days after Ms McKee\u2019s murder has been restored, saying the IRA \u201caren\u2019t done\u201d and is an \u201cundefeated army\u201d.<\/p>\n
The new graffiti comes as the PSNI have offered anonymity for anyone in the community who comes forward with evidence about the death of Ms McKee or the New IRA.<\/p>\n
Police have made a number of arrests and released images of the suspected gunman before and after the killing in Derry in a bid to encourage witnesses to come forward.<\/p>\n
Detectives say more than 140 people have already come forward with information, videos and images from the unrest.<\/p>\n
Complete anonymity, including giving evidence behind a screen and using voice altering technology, have been offered for anyone called to give evidence at a trial.<\/p>\n
Crimestoppers has offered a reward of \u00a310,000 for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for the murder.<\/p>\n
Kevin Campbell, Sinn F\u00e9in councilor and a Creggan resident, said the people of the area had sent a message to the perpetrators and will not be deterred.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s an absolute insult to the memory of Lyra McKee, who was murdered by these people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese people were given a clear message after the death of Lyra, when hundreds and hundreds of residents of Creggan stood together on Fanad Drive, that they are not wanted. Maybe that message isn\u2019t getting through, but this is an absolute disgrace and it\u2019s an insult to her memory.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Campbell says he does not believe the graffiti will deter people from coming forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople see these gangs for what they are \u2013 they aren\u2019t republicans, they are filth, and people recognize that,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
One shocked resident told the Press Association: \u201cI cannot believe them, it\u2019s only the second week since Lyra was killed here. They have no shame, they are scum.\u201d<\/p>\n
