In a joint press conference in Belfast with the T\u00e1naiste Simon Coveney, Ms Bradley announced that talks on the restoration of power-sharing institutions will resume on May 7.<\/p>\n
Ms Bradley said the \u201csickening\u201d murder of journalist Lyra McKee had \u201cdeeply shocked everyone across the world\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cLyra was a brilliant, talented journalist, a role model for many, who always fought to make Northern Ireland a better place,\u201d said Ms Bradley.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince Lyra\u2019s death, communities across Northern Ireland and the political spectrum have come together, united in condemnation at this murderous act.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have delivered a clear message \u2013 the people responsible for this act of terrorism have absolutely nothing to offer Northern Ireland and have no place in society.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Bradley said the security situation in Northern Ireland had been \u201ctransformed\u201d and the province was now a \u201cdynamic, modern, outward-looking\u201d place.<\/p>\n
But she added: \u201cThere remain small numbers of dissident republicans who remain intent on killing.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur challenge is to ensure that we continue to work for peace for the whole community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Bradley said: \u201cLyra symbolized the new Northern Ireland and her tragic death cannot be in vain.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of us must take inspiration from what Lyra achieved in her life and work even harder to make Northern Ireland a brighter, more peaceful and prosperous place for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Bradley said it was her \u201cabsolute determination\u201d for new talks to succeed and the Belfast\/Good Friday Agreement must be \u201cupheld and defended\u201d.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cThese talks offer the chance to move forward to restore the political institutions and deliver for the people of Northern Ireland\u2026<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a narrow window in which genuine progress can be made and we must act now.\u201d<\/p>\n
