\"\"Here is one event that all the family will really like, the Play it Loud: Instruments of Rock and Roll<\/strong> exhibition being held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/strong> here in New York City. <\/p>\n

The Rock and Roll Art exhibition that began on Tuesday is open from 10 am to 5.30 pm every day for this month and more.<\/p>\n

One of the charities that The Irish Examiner is proud to always support is Concern Worldwide<\/strong> \u2013 Ireland\u2019s largest international humanitarian organization \u2013 and on Saturday, April 6, they are hosting their 22nd Annual Spring Run<\/strong> in New York\u2019s Central Park. <\/p>\n

The event, which is open to the public, will raise $100K to support Concern\u2019s programs in Cit\u00e9 Soleil, Haiti \u2013 the poorest neighborhood in the Western hemisphere\u2019s most vulnerable country. <\/p>\n

The 4-mile race\/walk on April 6 kicks off at 9:30am after the kids\u2019 dash at 9:10am. After the race, join Concern for a celebratory after-party. <\/p>\n

As of 2018, Haiti is one of the ten hungriest countries in the world, with 2.5 million in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n

100% of every $40 registration will improve the lives of 83,000 people in Cit\u00e9 Soleil. <\/p>\n

Concern will expand its work with Haitian communities to fight diseases like cholera by clearing polluted waterways; build resilience by training communities to prepare for life-threatening emergencies; provide literacy, numeracy, life-skills, and vocational training; and create a sustainable path out of poverty by supporting small businesses (especially those led by women) with cash grants. <\/p>\n

Concern has worked in Haiti since 1994, implementing emergency response and development programming in water, sanitation and hygiene; education; livelihoods; health and nutrition; peace-building; protection; and disaster risk reduction in Port-au-Prince, Saut d\u2019Eau, and La Gon\u00e2ve Island.<\/p>\n

The New York Irish Center<\/strong> (1040 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, (718) 482-0909) is hosting a Cathy Maguire Country Night<\/strong> on Friday April 5th at 7.15 pm. <\/p>\n

Just to let you know, this is a fundraiser in support of the New York Irish Center. Tickets are $70, with an open bar all night!<\/p>\n

You can welcome back Cathy Maguire<\/strong> and friends for a night of country as they open the\u00a0song\u00a0book and sing the most famous and popular country songs down through the years. <\/p>\n

An accomplished singer and performer, Maguire began her career as a successful child star in Ireland. <\/p>\n

Cathy has toured extensively and has opened for internationally known artists such as Martina McBride<\/strong>, Randy Travis<\/strong>, and the High Kings<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

So go celebrate with them at the New York Irish Center on what will be a great night of\u00a0music, songs and stories! <\/p>\n

This coming April 14th will mark the one decade anniversary of the Big Apple Feis and Fleadh<\/strong>, an annual Manhattan-based celebration of Irish arts and culture. <\/p>\n

In addition to the already-popular Irish dance, visual art, and literary competitions, the Big Apple Feis and Fleadh will mark this important occasion by opening its doors to Irish language speakers for the very first time, inviting them to participate in a range of talent contests and community networking initiatives. <\/p>\n

Also new to the lineup are many opportunities for musicians with a passion for Irish music to display their talent, connect with those who share their interests, and bring home awards of their own. <\/p>\n

Together, these two fresh components will further solidify the Big Apple Feis and Fleadh\u2019s status as one of the most inclusive annual Irish culture events in North America. <\/p>\n

Speaking about the history and promising future of the event, organizer Unateresa Gormley<\/strong> said: \u201cWe are making a bold statement to the world about Ireland\u2019s rich cultural heritage. In the years to come, we will continue our mission to promote creativity, diversity, innovation, and excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Held in the beautiful Marriott Marquis Hotel<\/strong> in the center of Times Square, the Big Apple Feis and Fleadh will see Irish and Irish American individuals of every age gather to win the attention of seasoned category judges. <\/p>\n

These will include champion of the Irish language and prominent musician, Cuan \u00d3 Seiread\u00e1in<\/strong>; acclaimed Irish dance choreographer, Ronan McCormack<\/strong>; and renowned fashion designer, Jackie Kennedy Bohill<\/strong>. Scholarships will be awarded for outstanding individual and group efforts in select categories.<\/p>\n

The event will also provide an opportunity for both startups and corporate businesses to promote their products as vendors.
