I am telling you that this year\u2019s Saint Patrick\u2019s Day will be the biggest we have seen for a very long time. It all started last Sunday with the parades in <strong>Mineola<\/strong>, <strong>Rutherford<\/strong> and <strong>Sunnyside <\/strong>which were just some of those that are held before the big <strong>New York City Saint Patrick\u2019s Day Parade<\/strong>, and there are more to come next week. As I\u2019ve said, there\u2019s lots going on so be ready as you might just miss some of them. I should know as I try to make as much as possible, well someone has to do it. <\/p>\n<p>What can I say about <strong>Joe Hurley<\/strong>? He just keeps going and we thank him for that, even though he is a West Ham fan, keep it up Joe! <strong>Joe Hurley\u2019s All-Star Irish Rock Revue<\/strong> is holding its <strong>21st Anniversary Gala Concert<\/strong> on\u2008Wednesday March 13th at <strong>City Winery<\/strong> (155 Varick Street).<\/p>\n<p>Co-hosted by <strong>Hall-Of-Fame DJ, SiriusXM\u2019s Meg Griffin<\/strong> the All-Star Irish Rock Revue features a mad parade of extraordinary singers taking the stage as dozens of Guest Stars dive into the \u2018Great Irish Songbook\u2019 performing the timeless classics of Thin Lizzy, U2, The Pogues, Van Morrison, The Undertones, SLF, Morrissey, John Lydon, Boomtown Rats, Rory Gallagher, Dubliners, Sinead, Trad beauties &#038; Rebel Songs.<\/p>\n<p>Doors open at 6pm, with the show beginning at 8pm. April 14th\u00a0will mark the one decade anniversary of the Big Apple Feis and Fleadh, an annual Manhattan-based celebration of Irish arts and culture held in the beautiful <strong>Marriott Marquis Hotel<\/strong> in the center of Times Square.\u00a0In addition to the already-popular Irish dance, visual art, and literary competitions, the Big Apple Feis and Fleadh will mark this important occasion by opening its doors to Irish language speakers for the very first time, inviting them to participate in a range of talent contests and community networking initiatives. <\/p>\n<p>Also new to the lineup are many opportunities for musicians with a passion for Irish music to display their talent, connect with those who share their interests, and bring home awards of their own.\u00a0Together, these two fresh components will further solidify the Big Apple Feis and Fleadh\u2019s status as one of the most inclusive annual Irish culture events in North America. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the history and promising future of the event, organizer <strong>Unateresa Gormley<\/strong> said: \u201cWe are making a bold statement to the world about Ireland\u2019s rich cultural heritage. They will be meeting at\u00a011:20am on East 44th Street between Fifth\u2008and Madison Avenues.They  are designated as an honor unit this year.\u00a0They will be marching behind the <strong>NYU Pipes and Drums<\/strong>, and The St Patrick&#8217;s Day Foundation, NYC Directors and ahead of the <strong>County Galway Association<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After the parade they are joining their friends from the <strong>Irish Business Organization<\/strong> for a party at <strong>The Metropolitan Club<\/strong> (122 East 83rd Street between Lex and Park)\u00a0where they will have traditional food, an open bar and live music\u00a0from 4:30-9:30pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Entertainment\u00a0will be provided by Dub Soc member, the one and only <strong>Niall O\u2019Leary<\/strong>, along with guest musicians and dancers.\u00a0Tickets are $35 per head for Dub Soc members in good standing (2019 dues paid), and for those marching in the parade with the Dublin Society.\u00a0Non members\/non marchers $65.Under 21 $25, under 10s free.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gee, I am glad I got that in as it seems like a great after party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An Beal Bocht Caf\u00e9<\/strong> (445 West 238th Street in the Bronx) asks you to join the fun at the <strong>7th Annual\u00a0\u201cWorld\u2019s Shortest St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade,\u201d<\/strong> on  March 17th. The event will benefit the <strong>Aisling Irish Center\u2019s \u201cIrish Volunteers\u201d Homeless Feeding Program<\/strong>. The outreach program delivers food to hundreds of people in need, and you can help. <\/p>\n<p>The World\u2019s Shortest St. Patrick&#8217;s Day Parade route stretches a wee 47 feet\u2026 out one door of the An Beal Bocht Cafe in Riverdale and in the other\u2026 and it is a spectacle of happiness, community and caring for others. Hundreds participate and it is the highlight of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The festivities will begin around 6pm and, as in previous years, various bagpipe, fife and drum groups and other Irish-themed performers are expected to appear. Traditional Irish food and drink also help make the experience a true, culturally authentic celebration. <\/p>\n<p>Internationally acclaimed recording star <strong>Mary Courtney<\/strong> will be joined by <strong>Pat Madden<\/strong> to provide authentic, traditional Irish music and set the tone for the parade. It\u2019s all about celebrating Irish culture in the most joyful ways possible, while staying true to our ideals by helping the less fortunate. In fact, the name of the host of the parade, \u201cAn Beal Bocht,\u201d is Irish for \u201cthe poor mouth.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>You can support the good work of the Aisling Irish Center by sponsoring a parade \u201cfoot.\u201d Sponsors will have their names placed on a \u201cfoot\u201d which will be displayed at An Beal Bocht. $20 gives you sponsorship of a foot.\u00a0 (Multiple foot sponsorships are welcome!)<br \/>\nCan\u2019t sponsor an entire foot?\u00a0 No worries!\u00a0$5 sponsors a \u201ctoe\u201d!
