Celtic Nights<\/figcaption><\/figure>Yes, it\u2019s that time again, when we get to meet friends that we have not seen for over a year. We have parades, county and organization dinner dances, concerts and Irish plays for everyone\u2019s enjoyment over the whole Saint Patrick\u2019s Day season; ah, I love it.
\nTwo upcoming concerts that you really should not miss are Celtic Woman and Celtic Nights. You can get the details for both as advertised on our website and in our digital edition of The Irish Examiner and we\u2019ll be running a feature on Celtic Nights in the next issue of the newspaper. As we are talking about these concerts I thought I\u2019d let you know that we will be doing tickets giveaway competitions next week so make sure to check it out and enter, you might just be the lucky winner.
\nThe Irish Rep has extended the run of Disco Pigs, by Enda Walsh and directed by John Haidar until March 4th. Playing on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, and starring Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter films) & Colin Campbell (Dublin by Lamplight), the play was described as \u201cfierce… harrowing and exhilarating\u201d\u2008by Ben Brantley of The New York Times.
\nBorn at the same time on the same day in the same hospital, Pig and Runt have been inseparable ever since. They speak in their own language, play by their own rules, and create a world for themselves in which boundaries blur between truth and illusion. Until, on their seventeenth birthday, they discover something more. As night falls, and the disco and drink take hold, they spiral violently out of control.

\nThe New York Cork BP&P will be celebrating the St.Patrick\u2019s season at their 134th annual St. Patrick\u2019s Ball & Dinner Dance, on Saturday, March 3rd at Antun\u2019s (96-43 Springfield Blvd., Queens Village).
\nTheir deluxe cocktail hour will begin at 7 pm followed by dinner, music and dancing to Rumor Has It.
\nThis year, they are recognizing three very distinguished honorees:
\nEddie O\u2019Brien will be honored as the 2018 Cork Man of The Year. A native of Passage he played inter-county hurling for Cork. Eddie scored three goals in the 1970 replay against Wexford to help Cork to a 6-21 to 5-10 victory.
\nEddie worked at Rockefeller Center for 35 years as a Security Director. He retired in 2007 and now devotes his time to his community in Richmond Hill.
\nMary Cahill is the 2018 Cork Woman of The Year: Mary Cahill. Hailing from Bartlemy Mary has dedicated her working life to the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) providing humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.
\nNow retired, Mary managed the advocacy and fundraising work of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors for ten years.
\nFinally, Michael Doherty is the recipient of the 2018 Frank T. Carvill Service Award. A native of Armagh where Frank Carvill\u2019s father was from, Michael is a Vietnam Veteran. He served as a medic with the 11th Medical Detachment in Hoi An, Vietnam.
\nHe is a retired Building Manager who resides in Woodside and is an active member of both the Co. Cork and Co. Armagh Associations of New York.
\nThey will be publishing a souvenir journal dedicated to their distinguished honorees, and they invite you to include a greeting, remembrance or advertisement for your family, organization or business.
