The 7th Annual Irish Arts Celtic Appalachian Celebration<\/strong>, presented as part of Carnegie Hall\u2019s Migrations Festival<\/strong> will be held on Friday, March 15 at 8 pm at Symphony Space<\/strong>. Hosted by renowned musician-folklorist Mick Moloney<\/strong>, this rousing concert of traditional, old-time, and American folk music explores the shared lineage of Irish, West African, and Appalachian traditions, with performances by the Green Fields of America<\/strong>, New Ballards Branch Bogtrotters<\/strong> featuring 2018 NEA National Heritage fellow Eddie Bond<\/strong>, Jerron \u201cBlind boy\u201d Paxton<\/strong>, and special guests.<\/p>\n

Another wonderful entertainer that has been on the scene for a very long time and deserves a lot of credit is none other than Mary Courtney<\/strong>. If you would like to see and hear Mary perform go down to see her solo gig at The Bailey Pub & Brassiere<\/strong> (52 William Street, just off Wall Street) on Saturday February 16 \u00a0from 7:30 pm \u00a0until \u00a09:30 pm. \u00a0This gig is being promoted by Dominic Chianese<\/strong>. A great friend of The Irish Examiner, Dr. Kathy Reilly Fallon<\/strong> has asked me to publish a little press release on her son and of course I will as that is what we are about, so here we go. His name is James Fallon<\/strong>, 17, of Armonk, New York, a junior at EF Academy<\/strong>, and he is one of eight New York high school students named as distinguished finalists for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards<\/strong>, a nationwide program to recognize young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. <\/p>\n

James has received \u00a0this prestigious award in 2015, 2018 and 2019. James Fallon spearheads healing art projects as the head youth volunteer at Heavenly Productions Foundation, which administers themed arts and crafts projects for pediatric patients at the Maria Fareri Children\u2019s Hospital in Valhalla, NY. <\/p>\n

He raised $15,000 for the projects, and also has donated toiletries, clothing, food and blankets to homeless shelters and other charitable organizations. James will receive an engraved bronze medallion, a letter from President Trump, a letter from Prudential Spirit of Community Awards and the President\u2019s Volunteer Service Award for his distinguished volunteerism.<\/p>\n

It is just unbelievable to see how some people of out of their way to help other young people out so we here at The Irish Examiner would like to thank you James and say, keep up the good work and we wish you lots of success. Congratulations again!<\/p>\n
