I really did want to go to these two events, only I hurt by back and I was in pain, but I am back to normal now with a little bit of rest. It happens to the best of us so now I’m raging to go as I will be Out&About all this week.

Here are a couple of events that are coming up that I am sure will interest quite a lot of our readers and I hope to be able to attend some if not all of them. The Harvest Moon Ball will be held at the Irish American Center (297 Willis Avenue in Mineola) this Saturday, October 21st, starting at 7:30 pm. Celebrating their 92nd Anniversary and honoring Finola McCabe, Maureen O’Neill-Regan, Victor Cunneen and Denis O’Sullivan you can get your tickets by emailing irishamericansocietyny@gmail.com.

Founded in 1973, The Irish Business Organization of New York continues to lead the way in terms of business networking. For five decades the IBO has created vibrant networks across the tri-state area supporting, guiding and enlightening waves of Irish and Irish American business leaders.

On October 24th they will be hosting their 50th Anniversary Jubilee Gala. The event promises to be a true celebration of Ireland as they honor five outstanding organizations, and one individual, who have served the New York community in an exemplary way over the last half century.

The organizations they are honoring are The Irish Repertory Theatre, Glucksman Ireland House, Bank of Ireland, The Ireland Funds and the United Irish Counties, and their individual honoree is none other than Mary Burke, lately of Mike Carty’s Rosie O’Grady’s. There will be music, dancing, dining, and fun as they commemorate their first 50 years with fellow IBO members and the whole Irish community in New York. For more information email 50th@ibonewyork.org.

The New York Irish Center in Long Island City will present the Annual Mick Moloney Memorial Concert: Mercy Center Fundraiser on Friday, October 20 from 7 to 9 pm. Well, why not as it fits right into my Out&About as we are seen all over the world! Here it is: “After living in Dublin for 20 years, I have been given the chance to relocate to Paris. Instead of selling in the traditional way, I am raffling my apartment off, as I really want somebody to live mortgage free. So far, I have sold over 31.5k tickets and need to reach 65k to break even, which is my goal. A local charity also receives a percentage of the ticket sales, Little Flower & Penny Dinners, so three winners instead of one, the way I see it. The raffle takes place in less than 1 month on 6th November.”

You can enter for your chance to win an apartment in Dublin at raffall.com/341692/enter-raffle-to-win-an-apartment-in-dublin-hosted-by-karen-s.

On Tuesday I attended the New York City St Patrick’s Day Parade’s press conference at the American Irish Historical Building on 5th Avenue. There they introduced the Grand Marshal of the 263rd NYC St Patrick’s Parade, Maggie Timoney from Mayo County who is the first female President & CEO of Heineken USA. I had the pleasure of meeting her and got to congratulate her in person on her well-deserved nomination. Also in attendance was Heineken USA’s Vice President John Doolan.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Out&About and I’ll see you all again next week.
