Cinema that’s larger than life — literally — has come to New York\u2019s historic Paris Theater (4 West 58th Street).\u00a0The programmers of \u201cBig & Loud\u201d \u2014 a celebration of the spectacle, wonder, and majesty of film \u2014 started their series on September 1st. It ends on September 24th, but there’ still a chance to see a lot of classics in their best format. The program boasts 48 screenings of 29 films presented in 70mm and ATMOS sound at one of New York\u2019s most comfortable theaters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Films include perennial classics such as the late Peter O\u2019Toole starrer \u201cLawrence of Arabia,\u201d Michael Mann\u2019s gritty crime thriller “Heat,” the fanciful \u201cPlaytime\u201d from France’s Jacques Tati, and the late William Friedkin\u2019s underrated tense drama, \u201cSorcerer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlights include a rare 70mm print from the 2012 4k restoration of \u201cLawrence of Arabia\u201d \u2014 running Sept 2, 10, 22<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first US screening of “Playtime” in 70mm in over 10 years! Sept 1, 9, 17<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Tribute to the late William Friedkin, \u201cSorcerer\u201d screens; the film was nominated for Best Sound, 1978 Academy Awards – Sept 9 & 16<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stanley Kubrick\u2019s chilling, prophetic vision, “2001: A Space Odyssey,” arrives at the Paris on 70mm — Sept 3 & 15

“The Wild Bunch” is classic Sam Peckinpah in a rare 70mm print — Sept 16

First NYC screening of “Baraka” in 70mm in over 10 years. Both screenings will be introduced by legendary photographer Neil Leifer — Sept 2 & 16

“I Am Trying To Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco” is having its First NYC screening in over 20 years. Introduced by author & rock journalist Michael Azerrad — Sept 4

“Memoria” — US premiere screenings in Atmos. Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner, 2021 – Sept 3, 7, 23

“Apocalypse Now: Final Cut” is the definitive version featuring a new Atmos mix overseen by Walter Murch in 2019 — Sept 6 & 17

:The Tree of Life” is Terrence Malick’s tour-de-force in an original release 35mm print — Sept. 24<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“RRR” is the film that showcase the Oascar winneing song “Naatu Naatu” in Atmos at the Paris — Sept.24<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Radiohead on the big screen in “There Will Be Blood” in 35mm, featuring a legendary score by Jonny Greenwood, paired with Paul Thomas Anderson’s rarely screened collaboration with Thom Yorke, “Anima” (in Dolby Atmos) —<\/p>\n\n\n\n
