On Thursday, \u00a0July 13 the Emerald Isle Immigration Center team went to Sean Og\u2019s in Woodside to celebrate Milagros Escurra and Shannon Fritz-Penniman, who sadly are leaving the EIIC<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Hi everyone, I hope all is well and your summer is going as planned. While I was Out&About last Thursday I stopped at Stout on 33rd Street<\/strong>, right across from Penn Station. I was hoping to catch up with Noelle Mooney<\/strong>, one of the owners who manage a very professional establishment and still serves one of the best pints of Guinness in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, it\u2019s a pleasure to travel through Penn Station<\/strong> since the new construction is nearly finished. I know that this column is being read all over the world as I seem to talk a lot about New York as that is where I live. When I travel outside of it, I also acknowledge it in my Out&About, so you are not forgotten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have some gossip that might interest me and the readers, I will definably include it for you. The reason I am telling you this as I repeat all this, as I have been asked and the answer is yes, of course I will include a bit of gossip from here and there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week I did mention that I am not a weatherman and I\u2019m not, the weekend was a disaster again with rain storms and floods all over the place and then the air quality coming down from Canada still hanging over us all, what\u2019s next? I better stop while I\u2019m ahead and give you some good news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, \u00a0July 13 the Emerald Isle Immigration Center<\/strong> team went to Sean Og\u2019s<\/strong> in Woodside to celebrate Milagros Escurra<\/strong> and Shannon Fritz-Penniman<\/strong>, who sadly are leaving the EIIC. Mili leaves them after 9 years and Shannon has been with them for the last 4 years and both significantly contributed to the work and support they provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This came to me from the President of the Cork Association, Tom Browne<\/strong>. That every representation of each County should do to attract new members and I will publish it for all of you as it is very well needed. Tom said: \u201cDear members and friends, please come to party with us on Friday, July 21st, 6 pm at Bull McCabe\u2019s<\/strong> (29 St. Mark\u2019s Place in Manhattan) for Cork YPN\u2019s Summer Gathering<\/strong>!\u00a0Cork YPN exists to foster a social and professional network and community for Irish American Young Professionals with our\u00a0shared heritage to help each other. We aim to honor the history of the Cork BP&P Assoc., an association that is, and was, vitally important to our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next notice came to me from the Grand Council of the United Emerald Societies<\/strong>: The 8th Annual Detective Barney Ferguson Emerald Legacy Fund \u201c10-13\u201d\/\u201dMay Day\u201d Awards Dinner<\/strong> will take place on Thursday, August 24 at Juliano\u2019s Restaurant<\/strong> (700 Main Street in New Rochelle). The evening will feature a 4-hour hot\/cold buffet, beer, wine, soda, and incredible entertainment from the NYPD Emerald Society Pipes & Drums<\/strong> and the Golding Academy Champion Irish Dancers<\/strong>, along with chances to win raffle prizes and a 50-50 raffle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t miss this unforgettable evening celebrating the legacy of Barney Ferguson<\/strong> and supporting a great cause! This year\u2019s distinguished honorees are PO\u00a0Michael McInnis,\u00a0NYPD,\u00a0President of the NYPD Holy Name Society<\/strong> who will receive their Lifetime Achievement Award, Irishman of the Year Captain\u00a0Brian Sharkey,\u00a0NYCD (retired)<\/strong> who is both\u00a0Past President of the NYCD Emerald Society<\/strong> and the Grand Council of United Emerald Societies, and Firefighter of the Year Lieutenant\u00a0James McCarthy,\u00a0FDNY,\u00a0President of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the Valor Award will be presented to the Westchester Safe Streets Task Force<\/strong>,\u00a0SSRA\u00a0Brendan Kenney<\/strong>,\u00a0FBISA\u00a0Mark Vere<\/strong>,\u00a0FBI Detective\u00a0Brian Menton<\/strong>, Yonkers PD Detective\u00a0Scott Griffith<\/strong>, Yonkers PD Detective\u00a0James Menton<\/strong>,\u00a0NYPD Detective\u00a0Daniel O\u2019Malley<\/strong>,\u00a0and Greenburgh PD Detective James B. Ferguson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
