{"id":2812,"date":"2018-08-20T16:02:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-20T21:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=2812"},"modified":"2018-08-21T09:03:34","modified_gmt":"2018-08-21T14:03:34","slug":"record-breaking-numbers-expected-for-world-meeting-of-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=2812","title":{"rendered":"Record Breaking Numbers Expected for World Meeting of Families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/2.38106039.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2813\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/2.38106039.jpg 600w, https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/2.38106039-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Record-breaking numbers will descend on Dublin for the World Meeting of Families (WMOF) taking place this week.<\/p>\n<p>Over 37,000 people from 116 different countries are expected to attend the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) for a series of events as part of the Catholic festival.<\/p>\n<p>Families and pilgrimage groups will travel from as far as Africa, Canada, Europe, Australia and India for the three-day event.<\/p>\n<p>WMOF spokeswoman Brenda Drumm said that many of the visitors will be families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have between 12,000 and 14,000 overseas visitors then the rest are from Ireland,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will have around 6,500 people under the age of 18, and to put that into perspective, for the last Meeting of World Families in Philadelphia, the pastoral congress was attended by 17,000 people and there was 800 under-18s.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a paid event, all adults paid to get here while under-18s are free.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have become a record breaking-event in a number of different ways.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are using a huge number of square meters for our marquees and using every bit of available space.
