Happenings in Sydney are generally of interest to the Irish. Apart from the droves of Irish visiting from overseas, there are literally millions of first, second and more generation Irish dotted throughout Australia and many of them have set down roots in the country\u2019s largest and most vibrant city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 11 per cent of the Australian population claim strong Irish descent and that represents a figure of two million, but other figures put those with some Irish blood at up to seven million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Either way, there will be a considerable number of Irish in the city\u2019s five million plus population when Vivid Sydney 2023 gets underway towards the end of May. There will be even more when the city\u2019s population is swollen by a huge influx expected for some of the extensive duration of the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrating creativity, innovation and technology, Vivid Sydney 2023 is Australia\u2019s biggest festival and it\u2019s now just a little over three months to take off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This dazzling and delightful celebration will last for 23 days and night\u2019s and has four main central themes – Vivid Light, Vivid Music, Vivid Ideas and the brand new Vivid Food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister for Tourism Ben Franklin said Vivid Sydney was one of Australia\u2019s best events and a vital economic driver for NSW during the winter months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVivid Sydney is NSW\u2019s biggest annual event and makes a vital social and economic contribution to our state. From our creative industries to entertainment and hospitality venues, accommodation and retailers, it supports and creates jobs across the NSW economy,\u201d Mr Franklin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLast year Vivid Sydney was attended by over 2.5 million people and injected $119 million into the NSW economy. With international borders fully reopening, we\u2019re anticipating this year\u2019s festival to be our biggest and best yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cVivid Sydney 2023 promises to be a significant driver for domestic and international visitors to travel to NSW and attend Australia\u2019s brightest event and immerse themselves in our city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s creative direction, \u2018Vivid Sydney, Naturally,\u2019 has been inspired by a connection to the natural environment and will be brought to life via a kaleidoscope of colorful light projections and activations, plus free and ticketed events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vivid Sydney Festival Director Gill Minervini believes this year\u2019s festival would raise the bar even higher than past events with festival-firsts, world-firsts and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are proud to have curated an impressive collection of local and international artists and food creativity to provide Vivid Sydney audiences with new and exciting experiences,\u201d Ms Minervini said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have expanded and evolved the festival further this year and have curated an amazing line-up for 2023. The festival offering includes some significant new and Vivid-first experiences, as well as Vivid Food to deliver world-class culinary talent, events and activations as part of the program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
