The St Patrick’s Day Parade Board of Directors and the Parade Affiliate Organizations have announced 14 distinguished Irish-Americans who will serve as Aides to Grand Kevin J. Conway for the 2023 New York City St Patrick’s Day Parade.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aides to the Grand Marshal are chosen annually by the Parade’s participating organizations in recognition of their outstanding service to the Irish-American Community of New York.  The selection of an Aide is acknowledgement of years of unselfish, dedicated and distinguished service to the New York and Irish communities and for their contribution to Irish faith, culture and heritage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Board of Directors thanks the affiliate organizations for selecting dedicated and distinguished group of dedicated Irish Americans,” said Parade Chairman Sean Lane.  “They will join our Grand Marshal, Kevin J. Conway, in leading us past St. Patrick’s Cathedral and up Fifth Avenue on Friday, March 17, 2023.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This year we have a bishop, the leader of the NYPD’s Police Benevolent Association Union, the Nation Vice-President of sales at Heineken, USA, the New York State President of the LAOH, a Deputy Chief from the Fire Department of New York, a person who has worked with world renowned TV & movie producers and the person who has led the 69th<\/sup> Regiment for the past 33 years as the regimental pipe Major. An unbelievable selection of spectacular Irish Americans!” said Hilary Beirne who introduced the Aides at the Parade delegate’s meeting on Thursday, January 5, 2023.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2023 Grand Marshal Kevin J Conway\u00a0is a long time New Yorker residing on Long Island with his wife Denise and their children. Mr. Conway is very proud of his Irish Heritage tracing his multigenerational heritage to Counties Leitrim, Cork, Meath and Limerick.\u00a0Kevin Conway is the vice chairman of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, LLC a global private equity firm that he joined in 1997. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prior to joining CD&R, he spent ten years with Goldman, Sachs & Co., as a partner. Kevin Conway is the former chair and current vice chair of the board of directors of Student Sponsor Partners, an organization providing educational opportunities to at-risk inner-city children in New York City and is a Trustee of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He serves on the boards of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, and the New York Catholic Foundation, which administers funds for the Archdiocese of New York in pursuit of the religious, charitable, educational, and community services activities of the Archdiocese.\u00a0\u00a0Mr. Conway and his Aides\u00a0will lead the approximate 200,000 marchers up Fifth Avenues in the 262nd<\/sup>\u00a0New York City’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17, 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York City St Patrick’s Parade\u00a0marched\u00a0for\u00a0the first time in 1762, fourteen Years before the Declaration of Independence was signed in Independence Hall, Philadelphia.\u00a0\u00a0The Parade is regarded as the most popular of the all the Parades in New York City, and\u00a0honors Saint Patrick – the patron Saint of the Archdiocese of New York and Ireland.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New York Parade consists only of marchers and each year hosts some 250,000 marchers and two million spectators. The Parade has many outstanding marching bands, bagpipers in marching\u00a0formations, high-school and college bands from throughout the United States and from all over the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The occasion is televised live to millions of households nationwide\u00a0for\u00a0four hours by host station\u00a0WNBC Channel Four<\/em>. The broadcast is webcast live via the internet through the Parade’s web site at NYCStPatricksParade.Org<\/a> and WNBC Channel Four web site at\u00a0www.wnbc.com<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
