The US-Ireland Alliance has announced that Irish actress Kerry Condon will be an honoree at the 17th annual Oscar Wilde Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event returns, on March 9, 2023, to J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath\u2019s Bad Robot production company in Santa Monica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Condon may currently be seen starring opposite Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson in Martin McDonagh\u2019s, \u2018The Banshees Of Inisherin\u2019. She has garnered rave reviews for her performance in the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In announcing the upcoming honor for Condon, Trina Vargo, founder and president of the US-Ireland Alliance, said, \u201cKerry\u2019s performance is a tour de force.\u201d In an interview with Vanity Fair, Banshees director Martin McDonagh said he sought to showcase Condon\u2019s talent: \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019d quite seen how brilliant she was onstage really captured in the movies. I wanted to make sure that we did that\u2014and she just blew me away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Condon was also seen in McDonagh\u2019s Academy Award-winning \u2018Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri\u2019. She also originated the role of Mairead in McDonagh\u2019s play \u2018The Lieutenant of Inishmore\u2019 at The Royal Shakespeare Company and the Atlantic Theatre Company in New York.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2009, she appeared in McDonagh\u2019s play \u2018The Cripple of Inishmaan\u2019, for which she won a Drama Desk award.
On television, Condon was in the third season of Showtime\u2019s \u2018Ray Donovan\u2019, as well as the series\u2019 successive movie. Previously, she starred in the lead role in Sharon Horgan\u2019s comedy series \u2018Women on the Verge\u2019. She also had a recurring role in \u2018Better Call Saul\u2019 and co-starred in HBO\u2019s \u2018Luck\u2019 opposite Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Condon will next be seen in the upcoming thriller \u2018In The Land Of Saints And Sinners\u2019 alongside Liam Neeson and Ciar\u00e1n Hinds. She also lends her voice to the role of Friday in three Avengers movies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hackman Capital Partners and The MBS Group return as lead sponsors of the event. Founder and Chairman Michael Hackman owns numerous studios and recently acquired Irish studios, Troy and Ardmore, and is building a new studio in Greystones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At last year\u2019s event, Abrams announced from the stage that Hackman generously offered to sponsor two of the US-Ireland Alliance\u2019s Mitchell Scholarships (for study on the island of Ireland), with a gift of $100,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screen Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen will also return as sponsors in 2023. Vargo noted that \u201cthe island has been the scene of much recent filming, including Paramount\u2019s soon-to-be-released \u2018Dungeons & Dragons:\u2008Honor Among\u2008Thieves\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The popular, casual party \u2013 always held on the Thursday before the Academy Awards \u2013 celebrates the Irish in entertainment. Last year, Ken Branagh\u2019s film \u2018Belfast\u2019 figured prominently with Branagh and Jamie Dornan being honored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event typically honors three people, so more honorees will be named in future.
