{"id":26888,"date":"2022-07-27T10:19:00","date_gmt":"2022-07-27T14:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=26888"},"modified":"2022-07-27T11:23:46","modified_gmt":"2022-07-27T15:23:46","slug":"on-average-only-9-of-irish-have-received-second-covid-19-booster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=26888","title":{"rendered":"On Average Only 9% Of Irish Have Received Second Covid-19 Booster"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"627\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/2-61345899.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26889\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/2-61345899.png 627w, https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/2-61345899-300x172.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 627px) 100vw, 627px\" \/><figcaption><em>16 per cent of employees across all sectors were not fully vaccinated, the CSO also found (PA)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The average percentage of people who have received a second Covid-19 booster vaccine is almost 9 per cent across the Republic\u2019s Local Electoral Areas (LEAs), new figures show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Data released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) reveals that the average rate for a second booster shot was 8.7 per cent, with individual areas ranging from 2 per cent to 15 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The LEAs with the lowest second booster levels are Blanchardstow, Mulhuddart, Tallaght South and Ongar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second booster shots have been recommended for healthcare workers, for those aged 50-64 years, for those aged 12-49 years who have an underlying medical condition or are residents of long-term care facilities, and for pregnant women at 16 weeks or later who have not already received a booster vaccine in their current pregnancy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A first booster has also been recommended for those aged 5-11 years who are immunocompromised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fully vaccinated rate for five to 11-year-olds ranges from 4 per cent to 53 per cent across all LEAs, according to the CSO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the percentage of all age groups who have received the first booster range from 36 to 74 per cent in LEAs around the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The LEAs with the highest rates of first Covid boosters are Rathfarnham-Templeogue, Blackrock, and Dundrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just 16 per cent of employees across all sectors were not fully vaccinated, the CSO also found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accommodation and food services sector has the highest percentage of employees who are not fully vaccinated at 23 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sector with the highest first booster rate was public administration and defense at 77 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among employees, the lowest Covid-19 vaccine and first booster dose rates is in the EU 14-27 nationality grouping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Statistician Steven Conroy said: \u201cThis Covid-19 vaccination bulletin is based on Covid-19 vaccinations and additional doses one and two given up to June 30 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur analysis shows that the fully vaccinated rate for five to 11-year-olds ranges from 4 per cent to 53 per cent across all LEAs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCovid-19 additional dose one rates range from 36 per cent to 74 per cent in LEAs around the country. Covid-19 additional dose two rates were 8.7 per cent on average across all LEAs in June 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe LEAs with the highest Covid-19 additional dose lone rates are Rathfarnham-Templeogue, Blackrock, and Dundrum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSome of the LEAs with the lowest Covid-19 additional dose two rate are Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart, Tallaght South and Ongar.
