The Taoiseach travelled to Lebanon this weekend to visit members of the Defense Forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday Miche\u00e1l Martin laid a wreath in the southern Lebanese town of Tibnine in memory of the 47 members of the Defense Forces who have lost their lives serving in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fianna F\u00e1il leader is in Lebanon as part of a visit to mark the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister for Defense and Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney is also there as part of the visit

In a tweet on Sunday, Mr Martin said he was \u201cprivileged\u201d to take part in the memorial service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Coveney praised Irish troops for their \u201congoing professionalism & service to the cause of peace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIrish peacekeepers have the longest unbroken service to the UN of any nation. Very proud of that,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n
