Madeley spent his entire 17-year career with the West Yorkshire side, winning two First Division titles, the FA Cup, and the League Cup under manager Don Revie.<\/p>\n
He also played 24 times for England during the 1970s.<\/p>\n
\u201cPaul Madeley passed away peacefully today (July 23) surrounded by his family in Leeds,\u201d read a statement from his family, published on Leeds\u2019 website.<\/p>\n
\u201cPaul was a much-loved husband, father and brother and the family are extremely proud of his achievements in life and on the field for Leeds United and England.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was born in Beeston, a stones-throw from Elland Road, and only ever played and supported Leeds United.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe late Don Revie christened him his \u2018Rolls Royce\u2019 and to us he was just that \u2013 a class act as a husband and a father who always had time for everyone he met.<\/p>\n
\u201cPaul\u2019s wife Ann and sons Jason and Nick would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this difficult time, we ask for privacy as we grieve a great loss.\u201d<\/p>\n
Madeley, who mainly operated in defense or midfield but played in every position other than goalkeeper for Leeds, made more than 700 appearances for his hometown club.<\/p>\n
He made his first-team debut in 1964, a season which ended with Leeds winning the old Second Division title, and went on to play a major role in the most successful era in the club\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
During his Elland Road career, the Whites won the First Division in 1969 and 1974, as well as finishing runners-up five times.<\/p>\n
They also won the 1968 League Cup, the 1972 FA Cup and were beaten in two European finals; the European Cup Winners\u2019 Cup in 1973 and the 1975 European Cup.<\/p>\n

Madeley made his international debut against Northern Ireland in 1971, with his final appearance for his country coming six years later against Holland.<\/p>\n
Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani tweeted: \u201cIncredibly sad to hear about the passing of a Leeds legend. RIP Rolls Royce \u2013 my condolences to Ann, Jason, Nick and the rest of his family.\u201d<\/p>\n
