The Sunday World has reported the package was sent from Spain to their offices in the Republic of Ireland and contained sulfuric acid both in a bottle and also loose inside the package.<\/p>\n
It is understood the package was labelled as \u201csulfuric acid\u201d and was addressed to a former staff member.<\/p>\n
It has been removed by garda\u00ed for analysis.<\/p>\n
The paper said there was no note in the package, only a sheet which detailed the chemical make-up of the substance.<\/p>\n
The package was delivered to the offices of Independent News and Media at the end of last month.<\/p>\n
The Sunday World has offices in Dublin and Belfast.<\/p>\n
A Garda spokesman said officers are investigating the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cGardai in Store Street are carrying out inquiries following the delivery of a package to a business premises on Talbot Street, Dublin,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe package which contained a sealed bottle was delivered to the premises late last month and removed by gardai for analysis.\u201d<\/p>\n
