Overseas travel to and from Ireland remains significantly down compared to before the pandemic, new figures show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Figures published by the Central Statistics Office on Friday show that overseas travel last month was at less than half the level of September 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September, more than 810,000 people arrived in Ireland, while 792,000 people travelled out of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most popular country, in terms of arrivals and departures, was Great Britain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CSO recorded 252,000 arrivals from Great Britain in September, with nearly 277,000 departures there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain and France were also popular destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gregg Patrick, a CSO statistician, said that overseas travel had \u201cheld steady\u201d between August and September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The data, he said, shows the \u201congoing impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on international travel to and from Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A range of rules and requirements still govern much of international travel to and from Ireland, even as the country hopes to emerge from the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone travelling to Ireland from overseas is required to fill out a passenger locater form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People are also asked to provide either proof of vaccination or to show a negative Covid-19 test from the last 72 hours.<\/p>\n
