Yes! I am still here; in that I mean here with my Out&About column. It\u2019s been a tough struggle with this pandemic and I am sick and tired about talking about it and would it ever ****ing go away and leave us alone. I am not speaking with a political or a scientific mouth only a plain person\u2019s mouth as then you will get the truth and not fake stuff. <\/p>\n

I have to say this: that they can put a man on the moon and bring them back with no casualties and they are still working on the cure for this Covid-19. Now all of a sudden, we have three different companies with the injection that they HOPE will cure this pandemic, let\u2019s see. <\/p>\n

I am annoyed with all that is happening all over the world as everyone is affected from top to bottom and no class distinction with this pandemic. I feel so sorry for all the people who work in the hospitality business as they are the most affected and that goes from wait staff, bartenders, porters, chefs, kitchen staff, cleaners, managers and, of course, the owners – all of whom are suffering. You must remember that is those people who make our life enjoyable when we are out socializing and having a cocktail now and then, hee, hee, I have to get a laugh out of that one. <\/p>\n

All right, moving on I have to congratulate our new President, Joe Biden and of course the promise that he made on immigration, especially for Ireland and the undocumented that are here already to make them all citizens, now that would be a party. <\/p>\n

The Irish Repertory Theatre<\/strong> are back on the road or should I say on the screen, so here is the latest news on the shows that you can view. Their\u00a0\u201cTheatre @ Home Winter Festival\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0begins\u00a0on Tuesday,\u00a0January 26! Featuring all nine of their \u201cPerformances on Screen\u201d, from\u00a0\u201cMolly Sweeney\u201d\u00a0to\u00a0\u201cThe Weir\u201d\u00a0to\u00a0\u201cA Touch of the Poet\u201d, this free Festival is the perfect way to start 2021, safe and socially distant at home! <\/p>\n

Each week the schedule changes, allowing you to see four unique productions over the course of the festival! Reservations for all the \u201cPerformances on Screen\u201d are free but required\u00a0in order to access the dedicated screening links. Donations of $25 per show, or $100 for the festival, are suggested for each viewer who can afford to give.
\nEach Performance on Screen will be screened once per week during the festival at scheduled times\u00a0(all events are listed in Eastern Standard Time).\u00a0For the first week of the festival (January 26 \u2013 31), productions will be screened in the order they were released by Irish Rep. The schedule will then change each week.<\/p>\n

All performances during the second week (1\/26\u20131\/31) and fourth week (2\/2\u20132\/7) of their \u201cTheatre @ Home Winter Festival\u201d will feature Open Captions. Buy Tickets via Phone at\u00a0(212) 727-2737 or online at\u00a0www.irishrep.org<\/a>.
\nThis is well worth tuning into, each one of the shows are superb so go and buy a ticket as this is a great cause keeping Irish Theatre in New York alive.<\/p>\n

Elsa Regan<\/figcaption><\/figure>Here again is a bit of sad news: in 2020, The Irish Arts Center<\/strong> lost two major figures around which their education community orbited: longtime dance teacher Josephine McNamara (Jo Mac)<\/strong> and IAC ce\u00edli band leader Elsa Regan<\/strong>. For decades, they helped make the Center a hub for discovery, open to all regardless of age or skill level: Jo Mac through the boundless energy, talent, and generosity she brought to every lesson, and Elsa for holding together the large family\u2014including IAC teachers and students\u2014that is the ce\u00edli band, and creating a welcoming environment where learning and enthusiasm were always prized above perfection. <\/p>\n

I have to hand it to John D. Lee, President of The Irish Business Organization<\/strong> who invited me to their Zoom meeting with guest host Ciaran Madden, Consul General of Ireland in\u2008New York<\/strong>. He gave us great information on Ireland\u2019s standing with the European Common Market and foreign countries. It was a great presentation, thank you Consul General!<\/p>\n
