With Brian Kennedy\u2019s upcoming Christmas Special —Live from Dublin<\/strong> <\/em>— taking place this Sunday, December 20th, he adds another feather in his creative cap. He had released his first ever collection of most beloved Christmas songs, \u201cChristmassy,\u201d in 2018. A Seaview Sessions Production, the special holiday event will feature Kennedy up close and personal performing his favorite holiday songs streamed live from Dublin, Ireland at 3:00 PM ET, 12 noon PT and 8:00 PM Ireland\/UK, plus a special guest.<\/p>\n

Ever since his very first live Facebook concert on July 4, the event has become enormously popular. Since then, Kennedy’s shows have reached more than 140,000 fans from around the world who tune in regardless of the time zone. He performed his ninth streamed show on December 5th. As he noted ,\u201cIt\u2019s so exciting that people are able to join us from all over the world. I just love that the internet has become a virtual venue that people can access safely at this time, especially as the regular venues are shut and live shows aren\u2019t possible right now. I can hardly wait to see you all again on December 20th.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of Ireland\u2019s most inspired and revered music ambassadors, prolific songwriter Brian Kennedy is also a master interpreter of lyrics\u00a0 and an exceptional vocalist. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Brian remains one of Ireland\u2019s most popular stars with a career spanning three decades and 15 albums. Kennedy has shared the\u00a0 stage and studio with countless performers such as Bono<\/strong>, Joni Mitchell<\/strong>, Bob Dylan<\/strong>, Stevie Wonder<\/strong>, Sinead O\u2019Connor<\/strong>, Eddi Reader,<\/strong> Moya Brennan<\/strong>, Jeff Buckley<\/strong>, Paul Brady<\/strong>, Dionne Warwick<\/strong>, Mary Black<\/strong>, John Lee Hooker<\/strong> and even Meryl Streep<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Spotted by music icon Van Morrison<\/strong>, Kennedy was invited to tour as guest lead singer on Morrison\u2019s now legendary \u201cBlues & Soul Revue,\u201d touring the world for six years. Though relentlessly traveling with Morrison, Kennedy managed to maintain a stream of chart-making albums. \u2018A Better Man\u2019 (1996) and \u2018Now That I Know What I Want\u2019 (1999), both went platinum at No.1 and earned him the awards of Irish Best Male Artist and Irish Best Male Album, as did the highly acclaimed \u2018Homebird\u2019 (2006) and cover album \u2018Interpretations\u2019 (2008). Brian was the first international artist to record the incredibly uplifting anthem \u201cYou Raise Me Up\u201d with Secret Garden<\/strong> in 2001.<\/p>\n

His heart- wrenching live performance of this song at the funeral of Irish football legend George Best<\/strong> was released as a single and immediately jumped to the top 5 of the UK charts. Brian is a natural TV (The Voice- Ireland) and radio host (Clare FM) as well as lead performer on diverse international stages.<\/p>\n

He made his Broadway debut in Riverdance-On Broadway<\/em><\/strong> (2000) as featured vocalist performing over 300 shows during his nine months in New York, and represented Ireland at Eurovision<\/strong> 2006 in Athens<\/strong>. And he made his debut at Carnegie Hall<\/strong> in December, 2019 fulfilling a life-long dream.<\/p>\n

He also found time to write and publish two highly successful fiction novels and continues to receive many prestigious awards including the 2019 West Belfast Legend Award, the Ireland Meteor Lifetime Achievement Award for Music and an even rarer Honorary Doctorate Degree of Letters from the University of Ulster for his contribution to literature and arts.<\/p>\n

He recently released his own personal set list from his extraordinary career (so far) in a double CD \u201cThe Essential Collection.\u201d His latest EP, \u201cRecovery\u201d is now available. Brian recorded and co-wrote the song \u201cThings Are Gonna Change\u201d with Boy George (released April, 2020).<\/p>\n
