With Arsenal supporters eager to see new arrivals at the Emirates Stadium on transfer deadline day, a shock departure appears to have stolen the headlines.<\/p>\n
The Athletic reported Gunnersaurus, the club\u2019s mascot for the last 27 years, has been let go, with his role no longer deemed necessary due to fans still not being able to attend matches.<\/p>\n
As a result, a GoFundMe page for Jerry Quy, who has played the much-loved dinosaur mascot since 1993, three years before Arsene Wenger\u2019s arrival at the club, has been set up by George Allen.<\/p>\n
A statement on the page read: \u201cGunnersaurus has been the Arsenal club mascot for 27 years. He\u2019s a club icon and we cannot let him become extinct.<\/p>\n

The report of Gunnersaurus\u2019 departure drew widespread condemnation on social media, with Arsenal fan and TV presenter Piers Morgan saying on Twitter: \u201cWHAT? This had better not be true. Is it @Arsenal ??!\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cYou\u2019re going nowhere \u2066@Gunnersaurus\u2069. I refuse to let \u2066@Arsenal\u2069 sack you. Come on \u2066@m8arteta\u2069 \u2066@Aubameyang7\u2069 \u2013 this is not what our club is about.\u201d<\/p>\n
