And manager Mark Warburton is equally scathing saying he is \u2018staggered\u2019 by the lack of consultaion ahead of the date being revealed.<\/p>\n
The Premier League announced last Thursday play is due to return on June 17 following the coronavirus suspension that began in mid-March.<\/p>\n
The EFL followed suit on Sunday evening when announcing that the Championship is set to restart around the same time \u2013 news that shocked and angered QPR.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am absolutely stunned by this announcement, as is our director of football Les Ferdinand and our manager Mark Warburton,\u201d chief executive Hoos said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIncredibly, there has been absolutely no consultation with individual clubs nor with the Championship doctors\u2019 working group by the divisional representatives \u2013 or anyone else in the Football League \u2013 regarding this matter.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn top of that, we were only made aware of the statement 40 minutes before it was made public.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving spoken with Les and Mark, they share my views. We are vehemently opposed to this schedule.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe players haven\u2019t even returned to full-contact training at this moment and yet they are now expected to be in a position to play at a competitive level in just three weeks\u2019 time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have made our feelings known to the EFL and, having spoken with a number of CEOs at other Championship clubs, I am not a lone voice on this matter.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are absolutely appalled.\u201d<\/p>\n
Warburton echoed his chief executive\u2019s comments, saying it \u201cbeggars belief\u201d to be thinking of resuming on June 20 as contact training has yet to restart.<\/p>\n
\u201cStaggered,\u201d he told talkSPORT. \u201cI think everyone was staggered last night when the news was suddenly announced late evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know our CEO, who has been outstanding throughout, had no idea. Our medical side had no idea, nor did I.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had told the players earlier on a Zoom call that we thought June 27 would be the earliest and now they\u2019re looking a week earlier.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe haven\u2019t come back until a week after the Premier League and yet we start on the same day. It\u2019s ludicrous.\u201d<\/p>\n
Warburton added: \u201cTo get this sort of shock news last night, no consultation whatsoever with them, how can that possibly be allowed to happen?<\/p>\n
\u201cSafety has got to be the priority. The health and welfare of every player and staff member has to be the priority.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019re going too quickly, it\u2019s far too soon. My concerns are very genuine.”<\/p>\n
