{"id":14819,"date":"2020-05-28T07:49:13","date_gmt":"2020-05-28T11:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=14819"},"modified":"2020-05-28T08:50:37","modified_gmt":"2020-05-28T12:50:37","slug":"over-80-of-ryanair-passengers-still-waiting-for-refunds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=14819","title":{"rendered":"Over 80% Of Ryanair Passengers Still Waiting For Refunds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2.53597399.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14820\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2.53597399.jpg 600w, https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/2.53597399-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>Four out of five Ryanair passengers who requested a refund after their flight was cancelled during the coronavirus pandemic are still waiting for a pay-out, a survey has suggested.<\/p>\n<p>Some 84% have not had their money returned and only 5% received a refund within the legal time limit for EU carriers of seven days, the poll by consumer group Which? indicated.<\/p>\n<p>Ryanair said in a statement that customers \u201cwill be refunded in due course, once this unprecedented crisis is over\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Many passengers have complained about difficulties with applying for refunds and being offered vouchers after requesting cash.<\/p>\n<p>Ryanair boss Michael O\u2019Leary has previously insisted that all refunds will be paid but it will take several months to clear the huge backlog.<\/p>\n<p>Which? surveyed 1,632 UK adults who had accepted or applied for a refund after having a flight cancelled between mid March and early May.<\/p>\n<p>The proportion of passengers with other major airlines who have not yet received a pay-out includes 63% with easyJet, 23% with British Airways and 19% with <a href=\"http:\/\/Jet2.com\">Jet2.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the Civil Aviation Authority launched an investigation into airlines\u2019 handling of refunds.<\/p>\n<p>Its chief executive Richard Moriarty told the Commons\u2019 Transport Select Committee last week that it needs more powers to crack down on carriers.<\/p>\n<p>Rory Boland, editor of magazine Which?
