{"id":14136,"date":"2020-04-21T07:01:46","date_gmt":"2020-04-21T11:01:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=14136"},"modified":"2020-04-21T09:13:35","modified_gmt":"2020-04-21T13:13:35","slug":"fifa-confirm-investment-in-womens-game-will-continue-despite-coronovirus-losses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=14136","title":{"rendered":"FIFA Confirm Investment in Women&#8217;s Game Will Continue Despite Coronovirus Losses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2.43418542.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"336\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14137\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2.43418542.jpg 600w, https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/2.43418542-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>FIFA has confirmed that investment worth $1bn in women\u2019s football will go ahead despite the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Football at all levels has been hit by the Covid-19 crisis, leaving several clubs struggling to make ends meet.<\/p>\n<p>However, world football\u2019s governing body will not cut the investment announced for 2019 to 2022 in order to clear funds to support any relief effort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can confirm that this funding has already been committed by FIFA and will not be impacted by the current Covid-19 crisis,\u201d a FIFA spokesperson told the Guardian. \u201cThis funding will be invested into a range of areas in the women\u2019s game including competitions, capacity building, development programs, governance and leadership, professionalization and technical programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson also confirmed that the women\u2019s game would be part of any package to help the sport cope with losses incurred due to coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can confirm that women\u2019s football is being fully considered as part of this process in order to understand the various needs and impact on stakeholders within the women\u2019s game,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFIFA is currently working on possibilities to provide assistance to the football community around the world, including women\u2019s football.
