The British Prime Minister\u2019s official spokesman said he had been receiving \u201cstandard oxygen treatment\u201d but had not required any other assistance in breathing.<\/p>\n
Mr Johnson was transferred to the intensive care unit at St Thomas\u2019 Hospital, London, on Monday evening, after his condition deteriorated.<\/p>\n
His spokesman said the move was a \u201cprecautionary step\u201d in case he needed to be put on a ventilator.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Prime Minister has been stable overnight and remains in good spirits,\u201d the spokesman said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is receiving standard oxygen treatment and breathing without any other assistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has not required mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Johnson was originally admitted to St Thomas\u2019 on Sunday on the advice of his doctor after continuing to display symptoms of cough and high temperature ten days after testing positive for the virus.<\/p>\n

The UK’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is deputizing for the PM, will not be asked to step-in to brief the monarch on Boris Johnson\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister\u2019s official spokesman said: \u201cBuckingham Palace and Her Majesty the Queen have been kept regularly informed about the Prime Minister\u2019s condition and that will continue.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Cabinet Secretary and the Prime Minister\u2019s principal private secretary will continue their contacts with the Royal Household on the Prime Minister\u2019s behalf.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked whether Mr Raab would field any phone calls with the Queen, the spokesman added: \u201cNo, it has been agreed with the Royal Household that weekly audiences will not go ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
The speed of the Prime Minister\u2019s decline has caused palpable shock at Westminster after his symptoms were previously described as \u201cmild\u201d.<\/p>\n
His spokesman, however, rejected claims that No 10 had sought to hide the seriousness of his condition.<\/p>\n
