I am so proud that The Irish Examiner grown so much over the last couple of years in our popularity with our readers and we thank you all so much for your support. Life can be so funny on how things turn out as the media business is a very competitive market and I can tell you that we\u2019ve had a lot of ups and downs just like everybody else. The reason I am telling you all this is once you put your head down and have a little bit of faith in yourself and never give up then good things will happen. <\/p>\n

With the Saint Patrick\u2019s Day Festivities<\/strong> coming upon us, I have to express myself for the first time and to tell you again THANK YOU, as it\u2019s only thanks to you our readers and sponsors in believing in what we are doing that we are still here.<\/p>\n

Now this week, as every year at this time we are proud to print The New York\u2008City Saint Patrick\u2019s Day Parade\u2019s Line of March<\/strong> right here in the ePaper which gives you all the information you need on whose taking part in the parade and when you can see them.<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Crowley<\/strong> was the first woman and only Democrat ever elected to the 30th\u00a0New York City Council District where she served for nine years. She is now running in a special election for\u00a0Queens Borough President in NY on March 24. She was born and raised in Queens. <\/p>\n

The Crowley family name has long been associated with public service. Elizabeth is the 14th of 15 children born to Mary and Walter Crowley. Her cousin Congressman Joe Crowley<\/strong> (D-NY) served for more than 20 years. The Crowley\u2019s have been strong supporters of the Northern Ireland Peace Process and Immigration Reform.<\/p>\n

What a great scoop for Northern Ireland with the news that President Donald Trump\u2019s acting Chief of Staff is to become the US special envoy to Northern Ireland. The US president confirmed Mick Mulvaney<\/strong> has taken up the role in a tweet on Friday. The diplomatic role has remained vacant since former US senator Gary Hart left the position in 2017 when Mr. Trump took power. <\/p>\n

Mr. Mulvaney is an Irish-American and has strong links to Co Mayo where his grandparents are from. The appointment came as the White House released details of Mr. Trump\u2019s meeting with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar<\/strong> next week. Mr Varadkar will travel to the US for the annual St Patrick\u2019s celebrations. Now that\u2019s a bit of gossip for you all right. <\/p>\n

The Irish Repertory Theatre<\/strong> will celebrate their 2020 Gala<\/strong> on Monday, June 8 at The Town\u2008Hall<\/strong> (123 West 43rd Street). We here at The Irish Examiner are only to proud the let you know about this annual event that is always a sellout.<\/p>\n

Hal Prince\u2019s<\/strong> fearless creativity effectively created the American theater scene we know today. Hal\u2019s risk-taking was rewarded with a record-breaking 21 Tony Awards, and his artistic impact is unparalleled. <\/p>\n

On this special evening, the Irish Rep will remember their pal through his groundbreaking musicals and celebrate his legacy as a friend and collaborator \u2013 a leader who lifted up young artists and new endeavors. Hal and his wife Judy were two of Irish Rep\u2019s earliest champions, helping them to become the company they are today, and Hal went on to serve on their Board for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n

A star-studded cast of Irish Rep company members and Broadway singers will perform selections from Hal\u2019s legendary oeuvre, which includes\u00a0The Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, Fiddler on the Roof, West Side Story, Merrily We Roll Along, Cabaret, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Opera, Evita,\u00a0and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Past performers in recent Irish Rep galas include Melissa Errico, Jeremy Irons, Max Von Essen, Michael Cerveris, Jeremy Jordan, Donna Kane, and they say that they can\u2019t wait to announce this year\u2019s guests.<\/p>\n

This special evening will honor\u00a0Loretta Brennan Glucksman<\/strong>, who will receive Irish Repertory Theatre\u2019s Visionary Leadership Award<\/strong> in recognition of her philanthropic support of Irish communities and her tireless work in promoting Irish culture and heritage in the US and around the world.<\/p>\n

Here is one of my favorite events that is happening on Saturday, March\u00a028th, namely the Cavan Association\u2019s 172nd Annual Dinner Dance<\/strong> which will be held at Riccardo\u2019s by the Bridge<\/strong> (21-01 24th Avenue, Astoria).\u00a0 This year\u2019s Guest of Honor\u00a0 is Eamon Lynch<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Patrick Rudden<\/strong>\u00a0will receive the\u00a0Distinguished Service Award. <\/p>\n

The festivities begin with a deluxe cocktail hour followed by fine dining and dancing into the night, to the tunes of Rumor Has It<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I wish you all a very Happy Saint Patrick\u2019s Day and of course I hope to meet a lot of you when I am Out&About over this festive week and I am sure I will. Well, somebody has to do it.<\/p>\n
