The countdown is on for the biggest Saint Patrick\u2019s Day parade in the world, held in New York City, and The Irish Examiner\u00a0USA is so proud to be a big part of it as we support it to show our Irishness and promote it in every way possible. <\/p>\n

Parade season all started last weekend with two Saint Patrick\u2019s Day parades that took place in Mineola and Queens that went off with great success I might tell yea. I made a mistake in last week\u2019s Out&About where I should have said James Houlihan of Houlihan Parnes Realtors<\/strong> is the Grand Marshal of the White Plains St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade<\/strong> which will be held on Sunday March 14 and not the Eastchester Parade; so sorry for that. <\/p>\n

As I have been saying, the one big event that is very close to my heart is the Cork Association\u2019s Saint Patrick\u2019s Day Dinner<\/strong> that is been held at Antun\u2019s <\/strong>this Saturday. It\u2019s as if is the meeting of the McCarthy\u2019s as you have Denis McCarthy<\/strong> as the Cork Man of the Year and Kathy Byrnes McCarthy<\/strong> as Cork Woman of The Year and, so long as he\u2019s back from\u2008Dublin I am sure you will have Larry McCarthy<\/strong>, the new President of the GAA in Ireland and then yours truly will be there as well. <\/p>\n

Coming back to Larry McCarthy who just made history as the first overseas candidate to be elected President of the Gaelic Athletic Association, I have to let you know that he\u2019s a Corkman as well, now where would yea get it? <\/p>\n

The Martin Mc Guinness Peace Foundation<\/strong> are asking you to sign up for the Chieftain\u2019s Walk<\/strong>. \u00a0The walk will take place\u00a0on Sunday March 29\u00a0in Derry. Even if you are not able to make the Walk your contribution will go towards funding for the Martin Mc Guinness Peace Foundation. The Foundation was established to celebrate Martin\u2019s life, work and achievements. Martin was a leader, a political activist and an international statesman. He was committed to bringing about social, economic and political change\u00a0and had a vision of\u00a0a united and peaceful Ireland brought about through promoting understanding, respect and reconciliation. In pursuance of Martin\u2019s legacy, the Foundation promotes his aims, objectives and progressive ideals locally, nationally and internationally. Miss Mairead Early will sing the National Anthems at The Ireland Chamber of Commerce\u2019s St. Patrick\u2019s Day Breakfast<\/figcaption><\/figure>Here is one event you just cannot miss and that is The 24th\u00a0Annual St. Patrick\u2019s Day Breakfast presented by The Ireland Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> which will be held on Tuesday March 17 from 9 am to 11 am at The Lotte New York Palace<\/strong> (455 Madison Avenue). There will be great performances throughout the breakfast with Miss Mairead Early<\/strong> singing the National Anthems, the Petri School of Irish Dance<\/strong> and the FDNY EMS Pipes and Drums<\/strong>. On\u00a0Friday March\u00a06 the Consulate General of Ireland<\/strong> (345 Park Avenue, 17th Floor) will be holding its next First Friday Networking Breakfast<\/strong>. To celebrate\u00a0Irish American Heritage Month,\u00a0their centerpiece will be a conversation with\u00a0Jean Butler<\/strong>, a leading figure in the world of Irish dance performance best known for originating the female principle roles and co-choreographing\u00a0Riverdance The Show<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Dancing on Dangerous Ground<\/strong>. For over twenty years, Jean has toured the world bringing new expression to traditional dance and in 2006 began working in a contemporary dance context with commissions, residencies and presentations from The Abbey Theatre, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Danspace Project, Dance Festival, Irish Arts Center, The Kennedy Center, Jacob\u2019s Pillow, The Joyce, Project Arts Center and Seamus Heaney Homeplace.<\/p>\n

In 2018 Butler founded\u00a0Our Steps<\/strong>, a non-profit organization committed to the creation and production of artistic and academic initiatives that inspire and expand the way we think about Irish dance history, practice and performance.
