We are overwhelmed with all the greeting cards we have received for Christmas from all over by email and by post. I don\u2019t know how to thank you all personally as it would be impossible, all I can say is that we very much appreciate your kindest and it gives us great confidence in what we are doing with our publication that you enjoy. It makes it all worth while that you enjoy all our features in both the Arts and Entertainment sections plus sports and news as we try to suit everybody\u2019s taste. <\/p>\n

Yes, we here at The Irish Examiner USA may make it look easy, but it\u2019s hard work choosing the right articles and also be seen as servant to the Irish community all across this beautiful nation and that is what we are try to achieve. More good news that we would like to tell you about that will be happening in the early New Year is that the Irish Repertory Theatre<\/strong>\u00a0have announced three new productions for Winter 2020. First on the\u00a0Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage<\/strong>\u00a0will be\u00a0Incantata<\/strong>\u00a0by\u00a0Paul Muldoon<\/strong>\u00a0(The Dead, 1904) and directed by\u00a0Sam Yates<\/strong>\u00a0(The Starry Messenger). Performances begin on February 18, 2020, with an opening night set for February 23, for a limited run through March 15, 2020. Following that will be\u00a0A Touch of the Poet<\/strong>\u00a0by\u00a0Eugene O\u2019Neill<\/strong>\u00a0and directed by\u00a0Ciar\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly<\/strong>. Performances will take place beginning in April 2020. <\/p>\n

In the\u00a0W. Scott McLucas Theatre<\/strong>\u00a0will be\u00a0Lady G: Plays and Whisperings of Lady Gregory<\/strong>\u00a0written by\u00a0Lady Augusta Gregory<\/strong>\u00a0with additional material and direction by\u00a0O\u2019Reilly. Performances begin on February 12, 2020, with an opening night set for February 19, for a limited run through March 22, 2020.<\/p>\n

A beautiful one-man show, an elegy to life, love and loss,\u00a0Incantata\u00a0tells the story of a man celebrating and remembering a great love affair.\u00a0Incantata\u00a0is written by one of Ireland\u2019s most revered writers, the New York-based, Pulitzer Prize-winning\u00a0Paul Muldoon\u00a0and\u00a0interpreted for the stage by Stanley Townsend<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Sam Yates. <\/p>\n

Fresh from a fall 2019 run at Dublin\u2019s famed Gate Theatre,\u00a0Incantata\u00a0premiered to wide acclaim at the 2018 Galway International Arts Festival. Incantata\u00a0is performed by\u00a0Stanley Townsend\u00a0(All About Eve).\u00a0Incantata\u00a0will feature set and costume design by\u00a0Rosanna Vize<\/strong>, compositions by\u00a0Teho Teardo<\/strong>, lighting design by\u00a0Paul Keogan<\/strong>, video design by\u00a0Jack Phelan<\/strong>\u00a0and sound design by\u00a0Sin\u00e9ad Diskin<\/strong>. Casting is by\u00a0Maureen Hughes<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Sarah Jones<\/strong>.

Currently on the\u00a0Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage\u00a0is\u00a0London Assurance<\/strong>,\u00a0written by\u00a0Dion Boucicault<\/strong>\u00a0(The Shaughraun) and directed by\u00a0Charlotte Moore<\/strong>\u00a0(The Plough and the Stars). London Assurance is set for a limited run through January 26, 2020. Currently in performances in the\u00a0W. Scott McLucas Studio Theatre\u00a0is the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize winning play\u00a0Pumpgirl<\/strong>, by\u00a0Abbie Spallen<\/strong>\u00a0(Strandline), directed by\u00a0Nicola Murphy<\/strong>\u00a0(Stop\/Over).\u00a0Pumpgirl\u00a0will run through January 12, 2020. <\/p>\n

The Irish Rep, co-founded by Producing Director Ciar\u00e1n O’Reilly and Artistic Director Charlotte Moore, is now in its 31st\u00a0season after first opening its doors in September 1988 with Sean O\u2019Casey\u2019s\u00a0The Plough and the Stars.\u00a0Irish Rep is currently the only year-round theatre company in New York City devoted to bringing Irish and Irish American works to the stage.
\nRecognized with the Jujamcyn Theatres Award, a special Drama Desk Award for \u201cExcellence in Presenting Distinguished Irish Drama,\u201d an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Achievement, and the Lucille Lortel Award for \u201cOutstanding Body of Work,\u201d Irish Rep celebrates the very best in Irish theatre, from the masters to the new generation of Irish and Irish American writers who are transforming the stage.\u202f<\/p>\n

Nearly 50,000 audience members annually attend productions at Irish Rep\u2019s theatre located in the heart of New York\u2019s Off Broadway community. Once there, they witness Irish Rep\u2019s engaging perspective on the Irish and their unique contributions to the world of drama.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Well this is my last Out&About until 2020 and let me tell you it has been my privilege to write this column every week to inform you about what is happening, while I am out and about and just a little gossip. Ah, while we are having fun as that is what it is all about\u00a0. <\/p>\n
