The Rally For The Union at the Ulster Hall heard the Prime Minister\u2019s deal described as the \u201cbetrayal act\u201d, which would lead to an \u201ceconomic united Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n
Organizers said the aim of the event was to encourage votes for unionist politicians \u201cin the hope of returning a maximum number of unionist MPs to Westminster\u201d.<\/p>\n
The event on Friday evening \u2013 which was not open to media \u2013 is the latest in a series which have taken place across Northern Ireland in recent weeks against Mr Johnson\u2019s Brexit deal.<\/p>\n
Unionists and loyalists across the board have expressed opposition to Mr Johnson\u2019s Brexit withdrawal deal, claiming it creates a \u201cborder down the Irish Sea\u201d through proposed regulatory arrangements.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Sunday, rally organizers accused the Prime Minister of \u201cbetrayal\u201d, \u201cplacing us in what would be tantamount to an economic United Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n
The event also heard messages of support from representatives of the Orange Order and Apprentice Boys Of Derry in Scotland, before hearing DUP candidate Nigel Dodds and TUV leader Jim Allister giving \u201ctheir perspectives on the current political crisis\u201d, according to the statement from the organizers.<\/p>\n
The statement concludes: \u201cThe overwhelming message of the evening was unambiguous. This generation of loyalists will not be the generation to fail Ulster.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will not tolerate an economic united Ireland. We will not accept a border in the Irish Sea. We will vote unionist on the 12th December. We will resist the Betrayal Act.\u201d<\/p>\n
