{"id":1128,"date":"2018-04-05T07:49:06","date_gmt":"2018-04-05T12:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=1128"},"modified":"2018-04-05T07:49:06","modified_gmt":"2018-04-05T12:49:06","slug":"an-post-issues-king-jr-and-mandela-stamps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/?p=1128","title":{"rendered":"An Post Issues King, Jr and Mandela Stamps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/zzMLKmandelaStamps_large.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"317\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1129\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/zzMLKmandelaStamps_large.jpg 600w, https:\/\/irishexaminerusa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/zzMLKmandelaStamps_large-300x159.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/>An Post has today issued two stamps in recognition of the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr and Nelson Mandela.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by Dublin-based design studio Aad, the stamps feature photographs of Martin Luther King, Jr. at the famous \u2018March on Washington\u2019 and Nelson Mandela in Soweto, September 1990.<\/p>\n<p>The stamps are available from main post offices, from the stamp counters at Dublin\u2019s GPO, or online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishstamps.ie\">www.irishstamps.ie<\/a>. Fittingly both stamps are intended for international mail and will carry a \u2018W\u2019 designation for worldwide posting.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American Baptist minister, activist, humanitarian and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He led the August 1963 \u2018March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom\u2019 where he gave his famous \u2018I Have a Dream\u2019 speech.<\/p>\n<p>King, Jr received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his non-violent campaign against racism.
