An eventful week at Spurs saw Pochettino fired and replaced 12 hours later by Mourinho.<\/p>\n
The Portuguese, back in the game after 11 months out, then led his new club to a 3-2 win at West Ham on Saturday lunchtime \u2013 their first Premier League away win since January 20.<\/p>\n
Kane was a staunch supporter of Pochettino, crediting him with making him into one of the top strikers in the world, and he wanted the chance to say goodbye.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a week I\u2019ve never really had in my career before,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a big shock on Tuesday night for everyone, the players included, and then it was a quick turnaround.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of a sudden we\u2019ve got a new manager, one of the best managers there\u2019s been in the game, so automatically you have to turn your head towards that and focus on the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been to see him (Pochettino). I went round to his house and caught up with him the next day.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a shock for everyone so I wanted to go and see him, and we had a chat for a couple of hours. It was nice to do that before the new manager came in.\u201d<\/p>\n
For all the brilliant work Pochettino did in making Spurs one of the best sides in England, his five-and-a-half-year stint ended without any silverware, despite two finals and three semi-finals.<\/p>\n
Kane has never been quiet about his desire to win trophies at Spurs and he is hoping that Mourinho \u2013 a man with a plethora of titles to his name \u2013 can help him achieve his goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe gaffer\u2019s won at every club he\u2019s gone to \u2013 there\u2019s no hiding away from that,\u201d Kane said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe wants to win. He\u2019s a proven winner. I\u2019ve made it clear that I\u2019m at the stage of my career where I want to win trophies.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve made it clear I want to win them here and it\u2019s a big year for us.<\/p>\n
\u201cRealistically we look at the Champions League and the FA Cup this season to try and do that, so we\u2019ll see how that goes and then from my point of view I\u2019ll keep doing what I\u2019m doing, keep fighting for this club on the pitch, and I definitely enjoyed that one today.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou could say that (Mourinho could make the difference) because of his reputation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been three days so, until we build that relationship and see how things get on over the next two or three months, we won\u2019t really know.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we all want to win. We wanted to win when Mauricio was here, we want to win the same now the gaffer\u2019s here.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut of course when someone\u2019s got a reputation like he has, it gives you confidence, it gives you that belief in the team.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s almost a fresh slate for everyone now to show the manager what they can do and hopefully the players can thrive on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eric Dier, whom Mourinho tried to buy for Manchester United two years ago, was thrust straight into a central midfield role.<\/p>\n
And he believes Spurs are lucky to be able to work under Mourinho, whom he calls the \u201cperfect\u201d replacement for Pochettino.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis record is unbelievable and he transmits that confidence. The way he speaks, you believe it, you feel it from him. I hope we can win a lot of games and do as well as possible,\u201d Dier said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019s the perfect person to have followed on from Pochettino, in my opinion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the feeling I have. We\u2019re really happy that if someone was to replace Pochettino it was him, with that winning mentality.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore we were trying to win trophies and nothing will change. We\u2019re still going to try to win trophies, just with a different manager behind us.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonally, I think for everyone, we\u2019re very lucky to have played under Pochettino and now Mourinho. We couldn\u2019t be luckier.\u201d<\/p>\n
