I hope everybody is happy as the weather is just beautiful and it looks like it will be that way for a while. For the last few days, I have been in Port Jefferson<\/strong> on the north shore of Long Island, New York. It reminds me of another lovely seaside resort in Cork, Ireland and that is Crosshaven with lots of yachts and sail boats ready to sail that are moored by the gangways in the Marina. <\/p>\n

You can take the ferry from there across to Bridgeport, Connecticut that would save about two hours by car, bus or train, now where would yea get that? Only in Port Jefferson historic village. <\/p>\n

In Port Jefferson you have a fabulous variety of stores including boutiques, antique shops, galleries and much more and, of course, it has the best of restaurants and is a great place to relax. <\/p>\n

There are some nice beaches like Cedar Beach<\/strong>, Smith Point<\/strong>, Country Park<\/strong> and Robert Moses State Park<\/strong> and fun for the kids, so with all this it is well recommended, so check it out. <\/p>\n

Now for the good part: I did visit some of the local establishments just to see what was going on as I was staying in the Dunford\u2019s Hotel and Marina<\/strong>, now you have the gist of it? The staff in this hotel were so welcoming to everybody who came into the Wave Restaurant and Bar<\/strong>. I must mention some of them because as they were all so nice, including McKenzie<\/strong>, Will<\/strong>, Shayna<\/strong>, and Martina <\/strong>plus all the rest of the staff as I did not get all their names. <\/p>\n

\"\"I must say they are a credit to the establishment and must be congratulated for hosting with a very positive attitude; that\u2019s what bartending and wait-staffing is all about. <\/p>\n

Yes, I did take some pictures of the staff and of the marina because I want you all to visit Port Jefferson at some stage because I know you will love it.<\/p>\n

I also had a chance to visit a few of the local establishments that all have an Irish connection including the Tara Inn<\/strong>, Grumpy Jack\u2019s<\/strong>, Billie\u2019s 1890<\/strong>, The Wave<\/strong>, Tommy\u2019s Place<\/strong>, Port Bistro and Pub<\/strong> and it is amazing I got to meet Bernard <\/strong>from Dublin and Jim O\u2019Reilly<\/strong> from Mayo and a few more whose names I forget. <\/p>\n

It was just like a home from home, and I have never seen a town so clean with flowers hanging on all the lamp posts, just fabulous. The reason I am telling you all this in case you are not travelling \u2018across the pond\u2019 as we say, give it a try and see what you might think, you will not regret it believe me. <\/p>\n

There is a big event coming up in the Emerald Celebration<\/strong> on Friday, June 18th held by the The Society of The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick on Long Island<\/strong> from 6pm to 10 pm that should interest you all. This great event will be held at the Carltun on the Park<\/strong> with entertainment by Andy Cooney<\/strong> with Cocktail Attire. Tickets are $125 per person and sponsorship proceeds will be used to fund donations to various charities throughout the year.<\/p>\n
