Cork Convention Bureau Brings "A Flavor Of Cork" To Dublin

A Flavour of Cork: Evelyn O'Sullivian, Cork Convention Bureau and Dr. Noel Mitchell, Keynote PCO (Philip Lauterbach)

Cork's finest food, venue and hotel offerings were showcased this week in Dublin.

Over 80 guests were in attendance at O'Connell's Restaurant in Donnyrook Dublin.

Renowned chef and food advocate, Darina Allen, was among the delegation that travelled to Dublin.

Allen addressed the group in relation to Cork's variety of visitor and tourism opportunities.

Evelyn O'Sullivan, Business Tourism Manager, Cork Convention Bureau said, "Cork has so much to offer in terms of access, unique venues, hotel product and itinerary ideas, as well as the finest food in the land.

"We decided to bring a flavor of Cork to Dublin so that Cork stays front of mind with conference organizers and destination management companies based in Dublin but with the potential to sell Cork to their thousands of international clients."

Guests at the showcase event were treated to sumptuous Cork delights including Shanagarry Smoked Salmon, Gubbeen Cheese, Sally Barnes Smoked Fish, Ireland's only Buffalo Mozzarella, West Cork Duck and Jack McCarthy's Black Pudding and more while hearing about Cork's venues and attractions, including recent additions such as Ford Camden and Titanic Experience.

"Over 70 per cent of Ireland's artisan food producers are based in the Cork region", noted Darina Allen.

"These small scale producers provide 'a real taste of the place' and ensure that Cork's food tourism industry will thrive in the coming years.

"These artisan producers are offering not only the finest quality food but also unique visitor opportunities.

"Groups coming to Cork can now learn how to milk cows, make cheddar cheese, smoke fish and experience cuisine in new ways through the artisan producer network.

"This ensures a Cork experience that they will never forget".

With The Gathering 2013 promising to bring a large number of additional visitors to Ireland, Cork Convention Bureau is keen to promote this Region both nationally and internationally.

The Bureau is offering a wide range of valuable supports and assistance, both in terms of information and resources, as well as some financial support also. For more information, visit corkconventionbureau.com.
