In a further sign that Ireland is emerging from the economic uncertainty still suffered in many other European Union financial centers, A&L Goodbody, one of Ireland's leading law firms, announced recently that it is re-launching and expanding its US operations.

"Ireland took strong and swift corrective action when its highly leveraged property and banking sectors unraveled, compounded by the global financial crisis," said Cian McCourt, Partner and head of the newly re-launched A&L Goodbody New York office.

"There has been a significant increase in interest internationally in the opportunities Ireland has to offer investors and dealmakers in terms of assets, investment structures, access to markets and as an environment in which to do business.

"To serve that interest we will work directly to connect the legal and business community here in New York with Ireland to unlock the value we know can be drawn from activity between both countries."

A&L Goodbody provides legal advice and guidance on Irish law rather than US law.

Key to the firm's facilitation of US-Ireland business interests are its strong relationships with leading US law firms.

The firm's announcement was made at an event at New York City's Metropolitan Club.

At the event, Colm Kelleher, Co-President, Institutional Securities and Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, offered his overview of the Eurozone and outline market predictors and policy comments.

Nick Seidenberg, Managing Director at Eastdil Secured, shared his insight on Ireland specifically, including the opportunities he sees in the de-leveraging process underway in Ireland.

A&L Goodbody is internationally recognised as one of Ireland's leading law firms.

A&L Goodbody was the first Irish law firm to open an office in the United States (in the 1970s) and has been at the forefront of US business with Ireland ever since, providing Irish legal advice to over 600 US corporations and their advisors doing business in and through Ireland.

Their dedicated US Group covers the full range of specialist practice areas and industry groups.

The firm has over 350 legal staff and a headcount of approximately 525, providing advice on Irish law from offices in Dublin, Belfast, London and New York.
