The Bhoys Come From Behind For Win At Fir Park

Motherwell 2 Celtic 3

Celtic had to come from behind in the fog at Fir Park on Saturday morning, but despite a missed penalty from Barry Robson, they secured their fourth straight victory and stayed top of the Scottish Premier League.

With Mowbray starting the same squad that defeated the Dons last week, Georgios Samaras got them onto the scoreboard early in the 14th minute after he got on the end of a long pass forward from Landry N'Guemo, swivelled and fired in an excellent strike from 12 yards out.

In the 26th minute Motherwell had their equalizer from Jutkiewicz, who back-heeled the ball past Artur Boruc.

Motherwell were in front just before half-time when a Hately free-kick was headed down by Loovens and shot past Boruc by Mark Reynolds.

Six minutes into the second half, Celtic were tied again with McGeady latching onto a square ball from Samaras and curling it past Reynolds.

Motherwell's Steven Saunders gave up a penalty in the 64th minute, but Barry Robson's spot-kick was well-saved by Reynolds.

With twelve minutes left on the clock, Mowbray brought Marc-Antoine Fortune on for Danny Fox and a minute later he scored the go-ahead goal to seal all three points for the Bhoys.

Tony Mowbray was happy with his team's recovery from adversity after falling behind, saying: "It was a great football match with a lot of good play.

"From our perspective, we looked in total control of the football game in the first half, but we came in 2-1 down after shooting ourselves in the foot.

"But we got the job done, which is all-important at this stage - to keep picking up the points - and I think we warranted them.

"I think Marc Fortune has had a rough few months with his injury, but there's a lot of expectation on his shoulders.

"He can score goals at any level and I'm delighted for him."

New and confirmed Celtic signing Ki Sung Yueng (SNS)

Celtic have confirmed that South Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yong has signed a contract with the club "for up to four years" after his work permit was granted last week.

The 20-year-old Asian Young Player of the Year will join the club on January 1st, after being transfered from FC Seoul, and is expected to start training at Parkhead in late December.

Ahead of last weekend's game, Celtic manager Tony Mowbray told reporters that he would consider letting some players leave in the January transfer window - at least those that are not getting regular playing time.

He also hinted that he was looking around for new talent to add to the squad, but emphasised that, "I don't sit here and think we need 22, 23 or 24 players. We need a squad that is good enough to compete in the SPL and the European league.

"We will try to add competition to our squad if and when we can.

"It's not a guarantee that we are going to find lots of great players who are better than the players we've got. No-one has signed any pre-contracts."

He also insisted that he wasn't worried about the stalled contract negotiations with defender Gary Caldwell: "It's something that doesn't cross my mind really. What will be will be, in Gary's situation. He will either sign a pre-contract somewhere or he won't.

"He's a very strong personality. If I had any doubts that he couldn't perform, he wouldn't play, but he is strong enough mentally to continue."
