The Cork Clarion Achieves Top Euro Excellence Award

The staff at the Clarion Hotel, Cork celebrate the excellence award

The Management and staff at The Clarion Hotel in Cork are celebrating the achievement of the Optimus/EFQM Business Excellence Award for 2009. The Clarion is the only hotel  in Ireland to be honoured with this prestigious award so far this year.

The hotel achieved this award through Failte Ireland's Optimus programme attaining the "Award of Excellence in 2009".

The Optimus programme aims to help tourism establishments attain excellence in every aspect of their business by providing a practical approach to boosting bottom-line performance and a focus on improving results.

Speaking of the award, Charlie Sheil, General Manager of The Clarion Hotel said, "Achieving this quality award has delivered real benefits to all aspects of the business. Through Optimus Business Excellence, the most important benefits are that we are thinking at a more strategic level and constantly driving excellence in the business through a continuous improvement process. We all understand the importance of each other's roles and this helps with overall productivity and teamwork. I would also like to pay tribute to Fáilte Ireland whose assistance and suppport has been invaluable in achieving this award."

Shaun Quinn, Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland, congratulated The Clarion Hotel, saying,  "by participating in Optimus, the Clarion has signalled their intent to getting through these choppy waters intact.  There will be much better times ahead for those who put the head down and work through the next few difficult years. I think there is a growing belief that we will emerge in better shape as individuals, as businesses, as an industry and hopefully as a country and a people. The Optimus programme strengthens the focus on the customer, and this focus is more vital now than ever before."

The achievement of The Clarion Hotel, Cork in reaching this level of excellence places it in a select group of corporate high achievers more often associated with high tech sectors such as pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and precision engineering.
