Tommy Fleming To Play New York

Tommy Fleming, one of Ireland's top entertainers, will be making his first New York appearance as a headliner at Town Hall on Thursday March 6. This date follows Tommy's highly successful Irish tour, which featured many sold out performances including two nights at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

The show is sure to feature many songs from his latest PBS special "A Journey Home," which features the story of Irish music throughout the ages. Selections range from The Sally Gardens to U2's All I Want Is You. Stops along the way include: The Isle of Innisfree, The Cliffs of Doneen, The Town I Loved So Well, Summer in Dublin and Tommy unforgettable rendition of Danny Boy.

Phil Coulter first introduced Tommy to American audiences in 1993 when he appeared as a guest star on Coulter American tour at such prestigious venues as Symphony Hall in Boston and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Coulter described him as "the most exciting voice I have heard since Luke Kelly." Reviewers certainly agreed. The success of this concert was Tommy's classic interpretation of The Leaving of Liverpool and The Auld Triangle." (New York Times) "Emotion was streamlined by the dynamic voice of Tommy Fleming, who soared on every song." (Boston Globe)

Following in the footsteps of such legendary singers as Dolores Keane, Maura O'Connell and Mary Black, Tommy spent three years touring the globe with the Irish supergroup, DeDannan. This experience grounded him solidly in the world of Irish traditional music.

But Tommy sought a solo career and did not want to be locked into any particular style. Tommy has seven solo albums and two DVDS to his credit. In 2005 one of the highlights of his career was the first ever concert performance at the Basilica in Knock, where he recorded "Voice of Hope," which went on to become the best selling CD in Ireland that year.

This is the perfect way to begin an early celebration of the St. Patrick's Day holiday.
